I was very nervous about adding the bantams to the flock but here's what we did. We bought the silkies and seramas from the same lady. We kept them in the small run (that we usually use for chicks as they grow out of the house) for about two weeks and introduced them at feeding time one morning...
We got our first chickens last March. My husband wanted them and so I went with it. Fast forward to now and I'm addicted to everything chicken.
We have a little bit of everything in our current flock. Leghorns, EEs, Barred Rocks, RIRs, Silkies, Seramas, d'Uccles, BCM, Buff Orps and mixes. They...
Hello fellow Missourians! I've been on BYC since October but just thought about joining a MO thread. I'm from southeast Missouri and have a growing flock with 20+ chickens at the moment. :)
Just wondering if you all can help determine if I have two roos on my hands. :) The first one is a Red Comet/Svart Hona mix and the second is a Mille Fleur d'uccle and they are both six weeks old. Thanks in advance!

I have a black copper maran rooster named Fred. According to the person we acquired Fred from, he is around a year and a half old. Since Saturday, Fred hasn't been acting normal. He is usually extremely friendly and runs to me whenever I come out with treats. Saturday, he did not. He pecked...
I am going to check for internal pips tonight or tomorrow. I haven't done that before but I looked at a few tutorial like things and I think I know what I'm looking for. Will let you know how it goes!!
How cute! Congratulations!! We are up to five now! I'm going to give my eggs until day 24 at least before I give up all hope. We have 14 more in the incubator. I'm hoping for at least a couple more!
Yay! We have four chicks now with 15 left in the incubator. No external pips on any of them yet but the incubator ran on the low temp side so I'm expecting some late hatchers. Hoping for some more action tonight when we get home from all of the Christmas Eve festivities! Lol. Keep us updated on...
