If you could build the perfect coop, what would it be and what would it have?

So our current coop is a raised 4x6 with a 6' long door that hinges up and is a pain to open. There is no external access to the nest boxes. It is also getting very worn out by the weather since we never painted it. We have a 10x10 dog run with chicken wire over the top. We are going to...

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

Never mind, she is just a slow learner or she knows how to get my attention. She is quite when I am near the cage, but eats, drinks and walks around. They are all under MHP now.

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

I just picked up 4 EEs from a local breeder. They are 2 weeks old. Three of them seem to have figured out the MHP, but the fourth just keeps chirping and coming out. I keep sticking her back under but she doesn’t get it. The garage is 64 degrees, under the heating pad is 92.

Oh no, my chicken tractor rotted. What kind can I build quickly and cheaply?

It literally fell apart in my hands, all that is left is the wire and hinges.

Oh no, my chicken tractor rotted. What kind can I build quickly and cheaply?

I have a dog cage (small) that can be used for brooding, but not as a tractor it is small. I do have scrap wood and can get as many pallets as I want.

Oh no, my chicken tractor rotted. What kind can I build quickly and cheaply?

Hi Everyone, My old chicken tractor rotted, I was bringing it into the garage to use as a brood box for some new chicks we will be getting soon. We don't usually use the tractor except to keep newbies from the bigger gals or for quarantine, but we haven't need to use it in a few years. It was...

I am less than 4 minutes from Animal House so no biggie for me to run there, it is cheaper per cubic ft and local family owned so I try to give them my business. Though they keep changing their prices for feed and not in a good way. My 4 hens who free range for about 1 hour a day go through a...

    ARGH! Chicken Math strikes again.

That is too funny, I wish my dh would come home with chicks. Oh well we would need a whole new coop and run if we get anymore, plus officially we aren't supposed to have chickens though the neighbors all okayed it.

    Connecticut!

I just picked up 6 red pullets from TSC in Farmington. They are so stinkin' cute. Does anyone here raise rabbits? I am looking for an angora or a medium large breed rabbit to add to our family. I am a knitter/wanna be spinner so angora would be awesome but otherwise a medium or large breed...
