    Found two ducks like this in my ‘outer’ pen, the daytime one that’s not covered. There’s no holes in the enclosure and no sign of anything digging under. And night they are in a smaller covered run.

    Huge Eggs!

    I have one hen doing this as well…. her eggs are 90+g and very round, but never double-yolked. They tend to have small yolks and excessive albumin, and really prominent chalazae. I’ve been wondering if there’s something wrong or if that’s just normal for her….

    Thanks, I was about to and when I went back out to start doing that there was a giant RAVEN in her nest box. Poor thing, she was terrified and that’s why she abandoned the nest. Putting netting up over the run today, hopefully she will start over. 😢

    I will check it in the morning and see if I can get a better pic. It stopped bleeding and I smoothed the feathers away from the wound so they don’t stick to it. I don’t think it could be stitched but I am a little worried about infection!

    So I managed to get three replacement eggs and swap them out for the two she had, which upon investigation were indeed rotten. She seems happy with them, will give her a few days and then sneak one out to candle and see how it looks. 🙂
