I went out to the coop this afternoon and one of my chickens (she's about 9-11 weeks old) was walking around with her head cocked to the side and her eyes closed every few seconds. She didn't run away very fast when I walked toward her like the rest of the chickens. What's wrong with her? I...

Your chickens do that too?????!!!!!!
My BA, Ileen and her "buddy" NHR Margret, LOVE to scratch holes about 6-10 inches deep and sit in them. I guess it's to keep them cool.
Glad to know mine are normal!
Thanks for the helpful post everyone!

My NHR and BA lay their eggs in mid-afternoon. What's wrong with them? I've read and heard that they're SUPPOSED to lay an hour before sunrise. Are they sick or something?

Depending on where your at in missouri, where about 4-6 hours away from the stated border. I've got a choke chain I've been using, how do you put it on so that you can use it where it works right?

I came VERY close to putting Liberty on Pet Finder yesterday. I'm ashamed of myself. I had a registered, typed a description, had a picture uploaded, and was about to hit "Submit" when I changed my mind. We've had her since she was a little pup. We've been through EVERYTHING with this dog, and...
Thanks for the leash advice!
What kind of collar did you say that makes an awful ripping sound? I think you had a typo "Put a training collar on her the slip chains" is what you said. In answer to the question about escaping her pen. She goes about it two or three different ways.
1- she grabs...
Rolsjo,
Your post was very encouraging!
I've been paying tug of war with her regulary for the past three days, that does exspend some of her energy, though, not enough for sure! I still can't get her to walk on a leash without her bolting off and pulling me down. Also, even though I'm spending...
We thought about a harness to tie her ou on, but my Dad figured she'd chew it off. She's already gone through 4 collars. How do I get her to know to walk on my left side and keep WALKING and not all the sudden bolt?!?
Nice to hear from another Tennessee'an!

We don't have a crate. I'm not sure she would stay in one if we had one. If she where to get out while we were on the way to the vet,,.... Oh, well, I guess it's worth a try, (sigh) we've been through ALOT with this pup.
thanks, M.P.
We live in north west tennessee.
Down South. not much around here. I live in a town where the tallest point is the top of the methodist church steeple. Maybe the gash station sign?? Anyway, I agree, she needs TONS more running around time!! As far as getting her fixed,...it may be awhile, we...
Thanks!
I called the vet the other day and she said that if I want a sedative, the vet would have to SEE my dog first! Don't know when that's going to happen! I unhooked her from her cable a few minutes ago and put her leash on her. She took off at HIGH speed rope burned my hands. I tried...
Thanks for more advice!
Yesterday, I went outside and fed and watered Libby. Whenever she started to jump or when she jumped, I turned around and ignored her. She got the idea REAL quick. Whoever suggested that, THANK YOU! I then tried a little brushing and petting and talking real quiet and...
I know that some people on this board put their chickens up at night, then let them free range part of the day. How do you gather them all back up and get them in their coop and run, without spending hours chasing them?????

Thank you all soooooo much!
This is very encouraging and helpful!
Here is one other thing in Liberty's life since we got her. We got her when she was seven weeks old. For TWO days, she was very sweet. She slept almost all the time, and when she wasn't sleeping, she ate or just sat at your feet...
Thank you!
I'll try the walking. I've attempted it before, but she pulled me down and jumped on me. Will a choke chain help that? Thanks again for all great posts!

Thanks again for the great advice!
No, she dosen't have a kennel, and the closest petco, or petsmart is 1 1/2 hours away. It would take ALOT to get her to one of those. If we get her fixed, will she calm down any? We know a few duck hunters. We live about 3 miles from the kentucky lake. thanks...
