My 6 year-old Easter Egger has decided that I'm her enemy, so I need to find her a new home.
She's perfectly nice and friendly to everyone else but me.
She isn't laying anymore, but gets along well with other chickens. I have a mixed flock and there haven't been any problems at all. I am...
I'm having the same problem with my barred rock. I inspected her foot, which seems fine. I soaked it in Epsom salts and even wrapped it up (she pulled that off very quickly), but she's still limping. It's been a few weeks now and I have no idea what to do.
Thanks for all of your comments. I'm not sure what is going on. Lulu is now laying eggs again after I treated her for mites. She is more often making the egg laying sounds, which is a good sign. Still hear the crowing, but not as often. I'm hoping that when I introduce this next round of chicks...
If I didn't live in NYC where roosters are illegal this might be funny. I got part of the sound recorded, and you can hear it if you go to my blog here:

Has anyone else had this problem? She started to act more aggressive when one of...

All of the chickie pics are fun. Mine are too on the move for my slow shutter finger...
Here's one of the current batch of bantam barred rocks (more to hatch next week under a bantam Leghorn)...

My husband and I are photographers. I kicked myself because we didn't do proper photos of our chicks last time. Here's a photo of our chick studio. My husband took the photos while I made sure the chick didn't leap to its death.
I have plenty of brooder photos as well.

I'm...too sexy for my fuzz - too sexy for my fuzz...lol Walking the chick walk.
Cute chicks ya' got there OP!
It's funny how much attitude one chick can exude. We're having so much fun with them! Hopefully we'll do another photo shoot today.
We just got 4 new babies. 1 EE, 2 BRs and 1 Blue Andalusian. Here are a couple of photos. There are more on my blog (www.brooklynfeed.com ). Their fuzzy butts are the cutest!

Her eyes aren't watery and there's no discharge of any kind. Her vocalizations sound weird though. Different from before. She does stretch her neck out sometimes and sometimes she sounds a bit hoarse. But seriously, she makes these crazy rooster crows in the morning. And I'm in NYC...

I'll check out that post, but I've become pretty overwhelmed with different info. Her eyes aren't watery and there's no discharge from her nose.
Couldn't a respiratory issue be treated with antibiotics??
I'll have my husband hog-tie her and I'll look in her throat. I still have a scar from when she pecked the bejesus out of my wrist... And yes, I still love her.
My hen recently started crowing like a rooster. I thought this was odd, but now I've noticed she's honking and sounding like she might have respiratory problems. I haven't seen any signs of runny nose or discharge and her come looks fine (maybe a little pale). She hasn't laid an egg in a while...
Thanks. I thought the segment, although short, was pretty good. It showed that keeping chickens isn't difficult. Lou was a really nice guy and I thought that he seemed likely to build a coop himself. He mentioned a corner of his yard where there was a jungle gym that his kids outgrew...
Hi,
I thought you all might be interested to see some backyard chickens on tv. Lou Manfredini of HouseSmarts tv (NBC) came and interviewed me about raising chickens in Brooklyn. There's a link to the clip on my blog.

Hope you...
One of my 3 hens just died a few weeks ago. About a week ago one of my remaining hens started to squawk her head off all day long. She's molting and not producing any eggs now, so it's not the egg song. Could she be lonely/bored with only one friend left? Any suggestions? I hung a head of...
Hi,
My almost 2-year-old hen is acting listless. Her tail is hunched down and she doesn't seem interested in eating. She laid an egg this morning, but since then has just been sitting around. She has a lot of droppings caked on her vent feathers.
I'll go out and listen again, but I didn't...
You guys are amazing! I think your hens are incredibly lucky. And if you/we're a bit nuts, who cares anyway. We're not hurting anyone and we're enjoying our lives, which is more than you can say for a lot of other people. I think it's nice to make up for all the poor debeaked hens who are stuck...
The show was a lot of fun. Too funny that they passed out chicken diapers!! I noticed that everyone got a pretty colored towel for their laps. It aired on 4/2. You can go to the link below to see a few clips from the show if you missed it...
