Have you watched to see if she is eating? I can't remember if you are doing this already, but mixing a little bit of water with a little bit of crumble/mash can sometimes help them get more food down. I did this when one of my little ducklings was sick, and it really helped her recover...

Everyone in the runner duck club, I have two healthy fawn and white indian runner drakes (both 1-year-old) in need of re-homing. They are brothers, best buddies, and partners. Very mild mannered, tolerant of being handled, and aren't too rough with the girls. Very good protectors and guardians...

I think at that age you can tell by the noise they make. If it's a louder quack/honk, then female. If it's a raspy, froggy quieter noise, then male. If I remember correctly, my boys didn't get their drake curl until 5 to 6 months old

I totally get it :) Hopefully I'll hear from someone soon! The girls are going tonight, so the boys will be pretty lonely... but at least they'll have each other. Thanks, 21hens!

SURVEY - Duck Bumblefoot - Please participate whether or not yours have had it!

Hi everyone. There's very little research on bumblefoot in ducks, which can be frustrating for those of us who are trying to understand and treat it in our own flocks. I have created a two part survey to try to learn more about bumblefoot in ducks. The questions are intended to help identify...

    HELP! Bumblefoot Epidemic???

How did this all turn out for you, Hokankai? I hope you will share an update. Having the same troubles with my ducks. I really believe it's the ground that causes it in cases like ours. Right now, my duck yard is compacted dirt (almost like concrete, but not quite as hard). The surface is...

    Drake with Bumblefoot

Hi Jenniemig, how did it go? Did Qwackers ever heal up completely? My ducks have all turned 1 year old this March/April and I'm also having issues with the ground becoming compacted and messing up their feet. The ground is just dirt, not sand like yours, but it used to be luscious grass... now...

    Composting in the chicken run?

Thanks for sharing this thread. I've been reading it off and on all day... really good stuff! You might find some useful tips on how to keep compost moist in that same thread... even though they're talking about composting in cooler climates. Heehee, you'll see!

    Composting in the chicken run?

One quick question, Sill. The front fencing (for lack of a better word) on your compost bins, is that permanent or are they slats that drop in then lift out when you need to shift the compost around?

    Composting in the chicken run?

I buy it. Thanks for explaining in such detail, I really appreciate this great info! I've been planning to build out a "series" of compost piles, like your three, so that I can mix the stuff more often, just like you've explained here. In addition to being underworked and overpaid, my pile is...

    Composting in the chicken run?

Wow, very nice setup and results. How do you get such a nice balance of carbon to nitrogen to get that rich black gold? My compost pile is almost all carbon (straw and woodshavings)... in fact I call it my strawmpost pile! I plan on it taking at least a century to turn to compost... or...
