Thank you for your insight here. The sites say that there is blood running to the feathers and if you do it too early that it could seriously hurt them. Idk if that’s different between geese and other birds. That’s the primary concern, but I was hoping someone could provide some info as to...
My male pilgrim goose is 9 weeks old now and he is getting more beautiful each day! It seems like he is close to full grown. I have seen pictures of adult male pilgrim geese with very blue eyes, but his seem to be very dark still, and I was wondering at what age I should expect to see his eye...
Hi guys, our female pilgrim goose is trying to fly and we are very nervous about her taking up flight and over the fence. We will clip her wings when she gets older, but everything I’m reading says NOT to clip wings too soon and that now is too soon… right?
In the interim, what can I do? We...
Hi guys, I know this is generally not a turtle forum but I figured I’d ask since it has been so helpful for my geese. I found this in the turtle tank this morning. It is probably like 8-9 inches long and looks obviously like a giant worm. Never seen anything like it and I’m freaking out...
We put a camera on them in the garage and they are active ALL night! They don’t make much noise, but they’re constantly up. It’s amazing how little they actually sleep.
Hi all!
My goslings are 12 days old and getting HUGE! We are moving soon to a new house with a chicken coop in a couple weeks, but for now we are using a brooder in the garage and feeding them all sorts of different greens as well as a non medicated chick starter/grower. There is a little...
I can totally relate to Maverick, I felt the same way for months during COVID (living in NY was baddddddd).
I mean, if he looks completely fine, does it really have to be 3 weeks??
did you give him a mirror? I found a baby mirror for the backseat of a car that is shatterproof and it’s perfect...
My goslings turned 1 week old today. Hooray! So we set up a camera so we can spy on them in the brooder, and I can’t believe how active they are and that they are never even napping for more than like, 30 seconds lol. I understand that geese do not have a sleep cycle the way humans or my other...
@Wawaivy_ dont be so hard on yourself. I’m a new baby bird owner, too, and I’m just doing the best I can. We have to try to be as informed as possible and learn from issues that arise. Sounds like you’re doing quite well with your flock in general.
also, Angel wing can be corrected, no?
alright so I will obviously prepare for rats in the event they are around and hope for the best that they never show!
predator proofing is going to be a big thing for my boyfriend, he's already worrying about my four pound pomeranian who literally could care less about the goslings' existence...
what a lovely story. I too joined after stalking for a bit, both to say thank you to BYC for starting to prep me for my goslings' arrival but also to start asking 21382042 more questions lol.
<3
I have one week old goslings who I will be moving outdoors when they are old enough into a chicken coop that is currently vacant. I am NOT excited about this rat thing. This sounds horrific. Based on this thread I'm waiting as long as I can before I put them outside at night (read one too...
we got them a hedgehog stuffie but it was too big and the girl was jumping onto it and then jumping on the boy lol:wee
they are often sitting right next to the smaller stuffie dino we got them. adorable!
