    Serama hen hatching quails

Thanks so much for posting this. I have a bantam cochin sitting on quail eggs who are due to hatch tomorrow. I'm nervous about how she will react to them. Your post gave a lot of insight!

    Is this egg a gonner?

I opened it today. The bird looked normal but the placenta was green and gross. I also had one hatching with curled feet after all the others. This is my 3rd quail hatch and I've noticed if they're late hatching, for whatever reason, they usually have some issue.

    Is this egg a gonner?

That's kinda what I was thinking, especially with the way the membrane looks. Just surprised it made it that far and is giving up lol.

    Is this egg a gonner?

I'm assuming it did it. I didn't mess with the egg at all. Just pulled it out under the humidifier to get a closer look and saw the "heartbeat" movement.

    Is this egg a gonner?

I have quail hatching. Got 7 of 15 last night (day 18) and today I have a few more hatching. One zipped, and has had no progress for the last 10 hours. The cracked part of the egg is dark green. I pulled it out and I could still see a heartbeat, however the membrane is looking pretty gross...

    Brooder plate temp and height

I didn't think about not being able to see them... I may stick with the heat lamp this time.

    Brooder plate temp and height

...I'm debating if I even want to use the plate. Is that temp about right? Also, what height is recommended? Or should I just stick with a heat lamp? *they'll be in a room with no heat or air, but it's fairly warm heat in GA so the night low won't be below 50, and if it does I can put s space...

    Straight to the incubator?

That's what I was thinking also, thanks! They're from Myshire, so at least I have a 50% hatch guarantee.

    Straight to the incubator?

I have an order of quail eggs on it's way and it was delayed in shipping. When the eggs arrive they'll be at least a week old. Should I still give the Minimum 12 hour resting time before incubating, or go straight to the incubator?

    Help, sick quail

Thank you, that's reassuring. Since she's separated from the others should I worry about the cold tonight? It will be 20°. I could put a heat pad under her box...
