as eggcessive said it looks like intestines and will need a vet now. and if the vet can't help have the vet put the chicken down. that is sad. sorry to see it happen
I had one that survived because I had sutures and sewed her up. but not many people have that laying around. i agree with you if a vet can't help its time to euthanize
It looks like maybe hes been attacked or hit by a car. under his leg is that a tear in his skin and something sticking through it or is it more of a growth under the skin?
I suggest keeping her secluded from other chicks so they can't injur her anymore than she is, also don't pick her up more than needed to help her eat hope she comes around.
sometimes chickens stretch their neck up and open their mouth to adjust their crop, moving food into their stomach for digestion. it looks scary but is something they do.

i see this too but alot less in winter when there is no charcoals they can get to. chickens eat anything. i seen mine eat a rat, lizard and other birds too so who knows what they "don't" eat LOL
