    I had a green egg the other day as well.....not sure why. I occasionally will have all white egg....someone forgets to put the spots on befre they lay.

    Thankyou... The one I was worried about just hatched...all on its own....I get inpatient sometimes. I have hatched 100's of quail but this is my first time with chickens....they are huge compared to quail when the hatch!

    you can certainly tell by looking at their colors on some kinds of quail...and mine start laying as early as 6 weeks.

    I'm in it for the eggs

    I tried the vinegar method and all I could taste was vinegar...and I don't like vinegar. What I do is get the water boiling and then poke a tiny hole ( I use a safety pin) in the large end of the egg. Drop in the water and boil for 4-5 minutes. They peel easily.

    forgot.....they spent the day in about 65 degrees....I was shocked that some were still alive.

    shut the bator off this morning assuming no more chicks were to hatch in this batch. Cleaned it out and was opening the unhatched eggs to see why they didn't hatch and 3 fully developed...STILL ALIVE chicks were there. 1 of them had fully absorbed the yolk sac so I put him under heat...fully...
