when to help...

Today is day 21...2 eggs have pipped...one of them for almost 24 hours now. At what point do you help the chick out?

I hatch hundreds of chicks...and I help some out...as long as their is no bleeding...if so stop...... just carefully help them...~Charm1704

The one I was worried about just hatched...all on its own....I get inpatient sometimes.

I have hatched 100's of quail but this is my first time with chickens....they are huge compared to quail when the hatch!

Thanks for the excellent guide Sally sunshine. Saved 8 chicks that were sticky. Two didn't make it because I waited too long. The majority of my 60 plus eggs hatched within two days and the last ten were the ones that needed intervention .
Never thought I'd be doing "c-sections" on chicken eggs. But I suppose if they were under a hen she would just walk away and not give them a second thought.
