    Assistance with these baby birds

There's been an interesting, sad development. After the one died, she worked extra hard at getting the last little baby to eat. He started to trust her and associate her with food. She showed me an adorable video of him jumping up and down and flapping his wings excitedly as she held out food...

    Assistance with these baby birds

Thank you so much for all the advice! Sadly, I have to report that one of them has passed away. She's not sure of the cause, but it may have been that he just wasn't eating enough. It's a shame. She had to go to work and couldn't coddle them anymore, and he had passed by the time she got...

This is NOT a duck. But what is it? It's hurt and needs help.

On the other thread, people are suggesting that they're starlings. If that's the case, a rehabilitator probably won't take them. Hopefully the mom will come back.

    Assistance with these baby birds

That's fascinating! Not a very good idea, but an interesting fact. Thanks for sharing! I appreciate the advice. She said they still haven't eaten on their own, so she'll have to try to gently force feed them when she gets home from work. How long can baby birds survive without eating?

    Assistance with these baby birds

Thanks so much! Yes, as she and I both looked at photos, we think they are probably starlings. So sad that a wildlife rehabber won't take them! She brought them inside for the night and is leaving them with a bowl of smushed cat food. I'll advise her to pick up a syringe from the drug store...

    Assistance with these baby birds

Oh dear, I hope that's not the case! Especially because she said the wildlife rehabber told her he won't take them. Only larger birds and mammals. She doesn't have a vet or animal shelter nearby as she lives in a small farming community. I hope she can successfully reunite them with their...

    Assistance with these baby birds

Someone I know found these two baby birds in her well. Does anyone know what they are? She's in southeastern Colorado. A few days previous, she'd found another one. She called a wildlife rehabber, and he told her to put it in a box with some water and wait for the mom. The poor little guy...

Please redirect me to another forum if there's a better one. But this is the forum I'm familiar with, as a duck owner. Someone I know found these two baby birds in her well. A few days previous, she'd found another one. She called a wildlife rehabber, and he told her to put it in a box...

    Balanced diet of people food

Hi! Long time no post. I have a little dilemma I'm hoping you can help me out with. I'm going away for the holiday weekend, so my parents brought Bunny to their house last night. I packed her up and sent her off with a comfy temporary cage, her diaper, her favorite toys...and no food. My...

do ducks sleep the entire night?

My indoor duck doesn't sleep through the night. She sleeps for longer periods of time at night than she does during the day, but not the whole night through. I'll often wake up to the sound of her playing with her toys, foraging for imaginary bugs, or chirping at herself in the mirror, which...

    Show off your house ducks!

How fun! I'm sure she had a blast. I've always wanted to let my duck swim in a creek or pond, but I worry she wouldn't come back. She's imprinted, but she's unbelievably stubborn, and I worry she'd just swim out to the middle of the pond and squawk at me to come join her, rather than...

    Pools and Ducks?

She really doesn't drink it and she mainly keeps her head above the water. Sometimes she dives down or snorts to clean out her nares, but for the most part, she just floats around. She doesn't intentionally drink it as she swims.

    Pools and Ducks?

That's a good idea. She can take a shower with me afterwards.
