Thank you. I wholeheartedly agree but there might be just a little prejudice here.
I just posted in another thread. I am concerned that Annie may be deaf. She does not respond when I call her name which she should know by now. Have you ever heard of a deaf goose?
I raised an African Geese from one day old. She now is 7 months old. I am concerned that she might be deaf as she does not respond when I call her. She certainly should know her name by now. She is a friendly sort, eats meal worms out of my hand and gets along with the chickens and the...
I have a 7 month old African Geese. I raised her in a spare bedroom from a one day old gosling. When she was a couple months old I put her in a playpen which I would keep outside the coop when the weather was good then I would put the playpen in the chicken coop for the night. The coop is...
I have a 20lb bag of koi fish food that I would prefer not go to waste. It has 32% protein and 3% minimum fat. Would it be okay to feed it to my ducks or it the level of protein too high? Thanks.
Thank you. That's very helpful. Our nights are still in the 30s and 40s so I will have to wait a couple weeks and then I'll use the Premier plate in the barn. I'll have to use a sturdy extension cord to reach the back of the barn. They are growing so fast I can't believe it.
Missbc: Our chicks are both 4 weeks old. Do you still use a light on them at night? This is my first time as a mother hen and I'm not sure what they would need at night if I move them to the barn. They are in a spare bedroom for now so they no longer need the radiant heater but the nights...
Hi Enkue
Just read your post and couldn't help but looking through my file to find a picture of a spider, the kind of which visits us every year and sounds like the one you describe. This probably won't help allay your fear of spiders but, be assured this kind will not hurt you, unless you...
Here they are 2 weeks old when I took the pictures yesterday.
A little girl
All 8 of them. First day on the roost
A girl, left, and a boy, right, pigging out :)
Trying my wings
They are now 9 days old and their little tails are beginning to grow. It looks like one of the girls might actually be a boy, the one drinking. It looks much like the known boy with the black mark on his head, its wings are short and not developing as fast as the girls, no tail feathers...
The peeps are only 4 days old and it looks like they're already getting some of their wing feathers with some black on them. I can't believe they grow this fast.
Here they are after their first night at home. They found their water and food without problem and are quite content now. They sure make a mess. I'll change to a couple inches of pine shavings tomorrow which will be easier to manage.
Just came back from the PO, the chicks came in one day early which is great. They are all frisky, eating and drinking. They won't stop peeping though. I hope I have the plate low enough. I'll post pictures as soon as I can. Here is one of my set up before I added the second waterer.
I got...
