    I wanted to get full bred hens, but no one chickens around here and those who do only sell non producers, which does me no good. mixes like these run around $10, full breed hens around $20-$25 a bird. total craziness..

    I just came home with 5 new girls who are mutt hens. any ideas on breed? the barred looking ones have a definite browness to them. the black ines, there are two, have that beetle green, and one has silver penciling around the neck and chest while the other has golden penciling.
