I placed my now 9 week olds in the coop and they are finally getting along with the ocasional pecking here and there. How can i feed the chicks starter and the adults layer or do i just feed tehm all starter grower???
just added 6, 9 week old chicks to my coop and 5 adults and man what a rutgis going on, aafter 4 days they have clamed down a bit but the older hens are still peckin at the little ones. I think you just have to let them have at it and they will sort it out over time. no chicks have been hurt but...
whole thing is under 4 lbs and it's 3" thick and waterproof also slides apart with the shiplap design. i get these things for free also... anyone need one.....
I have made a new brooder from a Styrofoam container, it is huge 42x35x39 i lined it with cardboard and i must say this is most likely the best brooder i have ever made and it was free!! I have 5 grown and will get 6 more chicks to add to them.
pic s to follow.
place a piece of linoleum and seal it down with contractors glue and never look back you can even hose out the coop whenever you want. look at a bargan center for some cheap stuff. nothung sticks to linoleum and its waterproof.
you don't need to bury it just bend the wire into an L shape and lay on ground. Leave about 1-2 ft flat on the ground and stake into ground with landscape stakes and cover with dirt. i live in the country and have had no issues with critters getting in.
