I have 9 chicks that are 8 weeks old now and can they be put in with my older chicks that are 27 weeks old now?

It is usually best to put the chicks in either a sectioned off area of the coop or in a cage/crate in the coop for a while. Allow the birds to get used to one another while protecting the new chicks from getting picked on and pecked. The time frame will just depend on the flock. You might try to keep them in the coop but separated for several days to a week and then try turning them out in the coop with the older chickens.

just added 6, 9 week old chicks to my coop and 5 adults and man what a rutgis going on, aafter 4 days they have clamed down a bit but the older hens are still peckin at the little ones. I think you just have to let them have at it and they will sort it out over time. no chicks have been hurt but i worry a bit. also added a 4x4 extension to the coop so 10 chickens have a 4x12 inside area.

I just put mine in my upper race with my coop flock(my sumatra parents are in there too) and one morning they got through to the other side and they were doin just fine with each other. I also have a turkey in there as well and he didn't bother them one bit!:) maybe it just depends on the flock.

I believe ours are around the same age. As long as they are fully feathered or at least they are almost mostly fully feathered they will be fine. It has stayed around 80 degrees when I let them out and as long as it is warm outside they should be fine &if they are mostly fully feathered at that time. When the nights get cool ours just huddle together with the smallest peeps underneath them, and we make sure we have plenty of straw for them.

I tried to put my 7 week old chicks out and when it Got dark they were squeaking really loud. I had to bring them in. Is this normal? Do they need adjustment time?

They were probably confused, in a new place. You could try just letting them play in their new house during the day until they get used to it, a couple of days, then put them out overnight after they're comfortable.
