We are selling our pair of SFH. Unfortunately we just found out we have to move & can't take our chickens with us. The hen "Priscilla" has just started laying. We want to keep them together so they will be sold as a pair. They are from eggs we got from Bernie. They hatched back on 3/12 so they...
You can come out from under your chair now!
I like Elliot. Makes me think of E.T.
Thanks for explaining that to me. I guess we can build another coop & separate these 2 from the others & see what happens. I love hatching baby chicks so this should be fun.
Thanks for everyones posts & helping us clarify that this is a rooster( really thought it was a hen) I apologize to anyone who I may have upset or offended. That was not my intentions.
Ok so now it's time to rename him. Any suggestions? Also, I have a question for y'all.....we have a hen that...
I'm not taking them in a bad way. I am new to chickens and I'm learning but I'm not convinced this is a roo. IF it is a roo then maybe somebody needs to tell my SFH roo that cause he seems to like her. ;)
We have SFH Roosters for free to a good home. They are now 12 weeks old. We hatched these out from some of Bernie's eggs. We ended up with more roos than we need. We need to find homes for them ASAP! We have at least 5. Not all of them are crested.
Oh & the blood was not coming from her. I guess the other chicks are picking at each other in the mornings before I let them out. Although none appear to have any major battle wounds.
Ellie(that's what I've named her) is already showing improvement! The red bump was not sticking out today & not as much white stuff caked in her feathers. I followed the treatment for vent gleet & it appears to be helping! I put her in our jet tub to soak today. She seemed to enjoy the warm...
Thank you for the advice. I seperated her today after soaking & cleaning her up. I'm thinking it may be vent gleet. She does smell pretty bad. I gave her some yogurt too! I'll keep y'all updated on her progress.
Here's a pic of her bottom. We are not sure if the blood is coming from her or another chick. I haven't found any visible signs on the other chicks that would indicate an injury.
Well the 2nd chick I tried to help didn't make it. It appeared to be strong & healthy when it kicked out of its shell. It even got up & hopped over another egg. Not sure what happened to it.
