Never heard of them having fleas. But they do get lice and mites. And if you have a "couple" then there's usually more that you can't see. Treat them ASAP.
Well when people to come visit my chickens from the city to get eggs, I know they appreciate a clean coop. And so do I. I hate tracking chicken poop around on my shoes.
I've never disinfected, just clean out the shavings when dirty, I have a cat litter scoop to clean the poop out of the nest boxes for the silly hens who sleep their at night. And put down DE everywhere when I'm done. Voila!

I also have a mutt brown chicken that I got with a crooked beak, she's older, who knows how old. But I dremelled it last night since it was getting a little overgrown. But other than that she's a plump little lady. The first one to catch mice and frogs!
