    I'm interested in hatching some chicks in may and was curious if anyone in CT had an incubator on hand that I could borrow / rent. I'm willing to pay and even give you some chicks if anyone is interested! I'm not certain on how many eggs I'm interested in hatching.

    Bare bellies?

    Have they gone broody? Some hens will pluck their belly feathers for a skin-to-egg contact when they want to hatch. The fact that the plucking is pretty clean and not bloody makes me think this as opposed to a pecking order. I doubt they'd be molting now, especially if they molted in the fall..

    Just got an egg today, before washing it was pinkish with white spots, after washing it was medium brown and very heavily speckled. It was either my Buff Orpington or my Partridge and I can't figure out!

    Plucked one, it literally looks like a shih tzu rubbed up against her. It has the base of a regular feather, but then just a fine hair until the top, where it splits up into a few black feather-y endings. More protein?

    I was looking at my 4 year old australorp hen and discovered white hair attached to her thigh but only on one side. There appears to be some feather loss there too. She seems normal in every other way.
