I am not at home right now, so I can't help my mother, but I was wondering if any of you can..
Yesterday she noticed two of our hens, almost 6 y/o Australorp, Inky, and Speckled Sussex, Huevo, had bare bums. We didn't think much of it since the Australorp would do that to herself in the past...
Fairfield county, there aren't any near by. I'm also more interested in either a brinsea or other with an automatic egg turner as opposed to the still air one they're offering for $44
I'm interested in hatching some chicks in may and was curious if anyone in CT had an incubator on hand that I could borrow / rent.
I'm willing to pay and even give you some chicks if anyone is interested! I'm not certain on how many eggs I'm interested in hatching.
Have they gone broody? Some hens will pluck their belly feathers for a skin-to-egg contact when they want to hatch. The fact that the plucking is pretty clean and not bloody makes me think this as opposed to a pecking order. I doubt they'd be molting now, especially if they molted in the fall..
Hi! Looking for an incubator with the best bang for your buck. Interested in hatching probably 50 or so eggs, but will get one smaller or larger if it's a better deal.
Thanks, Daisy
Hi!
I'm looking to get a variety of hatching eggs (probably between 15-20... maybe more, maybe less) but don't exactly want to commit to at least 12 of all the same kind. I would be buying in mid May I think.
For the moment, I'm thinking about getting...
Silkies
Polish
Orpingtons
Cochins...
Hi CT,
If I hatched chicks over the summer (maybe will take requests for breeds and such), would any of you be interested in taking some?
I've never hatched my own chicks before, and really want to give it a go, but I'm away at school during the winter so I wouldn't be able to keep them and...
Just got an egg today, before washing it was pinkish with white spots, after washing it was medium brown and very heavily speckled. It was either my Buff Orpington or my Partridge and I can't figure out!
Does anyone know what a partridge rock's egg is supposed to look like? Just got an egg today, before washing it was pinkish with white spots, after washing it was medium brown and very heavily speckled. It was either my Buff Orpington or my Partridge and I can't figure out!
Plucked one, it literally looks like a shih tzu rubbed up against her. It has the base of a regular feather, but then just a fine hair until the top, where it splits up into a few black feather-y endings. More protein?
I was looking at my 4 year old australorp hen and discovered white hair attached to her thigh but only on one side. There appears to be some feather loss there too. She seems normal in every other way.
That's strange, I thought it was only a problem out west. That's so sad, though. Used to love watching the chicks hatch.
Does anyone know of a act Buy Sell Swap site or group anywhere?
