    How to: Moving Pigs?

I've seen a farmer successfully move his full grown pigs with a 16 foot welded panel that you bend around and make a circle out of it. Secure with zip ties or whatever and then place it over them and move them that way. I have little pigs and some of them follow a grain bucket but my males...

Fruit from Gingko tree toxic for Dogs

Just so nobody else has to go through what I did, Gingko fruit is toxic!! Now, my big dogs have eaten it and I see the seeds in their poop and never thought in the 10 years we lived here that the tree is a problem. But my new puppy who was only 10 lbs ate a bunch of fruit (seeds and all) and she...

Erice the Emu and Eight Wild Chicks

Are you picking up eggs or having them shipped? Curious how this seller precandals the eggs, as they have a very thick emerald green shell that I have never heard of anyone being able to candle them.

Erice the Emu and Eight Wild Chicks

I do wish you luck with your plan but I see so many things wrong and I would be shocked to see you end up with a breeding pair of emus. When are you getting your eggs? Sometimes you can read and get all the advice possible and you still have to go through the experience yourself. Let us know how...

Erice the Emu and Eight Wild Chicks

I'm pretty sure females don't lay eggs without a mate (unlike a chicken). I only have breeding pairs so not for sure if that is true but I do know my female will stop laying once the male gets his clutch and starts sitting. I would also be surprised if you got 2 emu eggs to hatch and had 100%...

Peachicks lethargic & dying...vet has never seen anything like it...PLS HELP!

Any thoughts that maybe keets shouldn't be raised with peachicks? Since you aren't having any trouble with the all keets batch..? I have just found over the years that certain animals don't do well housed together for health reasons. Good luck.

    Emu and Peacocks

No, they can't. Emus need much larger areas to run and exercise and they will stomp and kill other poultry.

    Golden Retriever Thread!

I opened the gate to go to the barn and 4 of my dogs rushed by. Nellie was the next one through, right in front of me and she jumped back making me look down to see what she stepped on. It was a baby copperhead.

    Golden Retriever Thread!

I have a 9 year old Golden named Nellie. She was rescued from a local shelter when she was a young adult. She has separation anxiety and food aggression issues (with other dogs not humans) but we have learned to manage this behavior. She is very sweet and loyal though and saved me from stepping...

    'C'ats 'A're 'T'ruly 'S'pecial

I have a cat problem that maybe some of you cat lovers have a solution for... A few months ago I agreed to take in 3 male kittens that a local rescue trapped in a feral colony, they were all neutered. I only agreed to take them as barn cats because I do not want any indoor cats. For 3-4 months...

Okkota the picky pot bellied piglet.

She doesn't look like a newborn pig, how old is she? Trying to bottle fed is always harder on a baby that has learned to nurse from the mother for more than a few days. Also, bottle fed piggies often have hard time being nice house pets. Not impossible to train and instill manners but much more...

Not even born puppys had their destiny to be drowned-but i stepped in and HOPE to save them

Maybe you can get them to let you take the female for just a few weeks? Then the momma can at least raise them until eyes are open, not ideal but better than trying to bottle raise.

Pot Belly Pig in need of MAJOR HELP!!!

I would recommend a vet, if that's not an option maybe get a temp on him. When a pig won't eat that to me means it's pretty serious.

    Home made dog food?

I need to start feeding my dog a diet low in sugars because she is having trouble with yeast and grain-free and Limited ingredient diets have not helped. I came across a raw that seems easy to do that and consist of hamburger, boiled eggs (with shells and all) and you add some type of oil (a...

Male or female emu chick ?

Head pattern sexing is not accurate and the only accurate way is to send DNA off to testing lab.

When will our Emuss start laying Eggs?

When you say free roam it means to me she has access to the house, yard (maybe not native plants), cars, etc. It would seem to be there would be a lot of things an emu could get into especially since they like shiny things. What are you feeding her, so you know for sure she is female? Maybe she...

When will our Emuss start laying Eggs?

Perhaps she swallowed something she shouldn't have as you have said you have her free range and she has access to pretty much everything. She could have blockage in her throat or stomach and that would cause her not to eat and slowly starve to death. You might not be in favor of fences but...
