    Broody ate babies?

Thank y'all for the replies and advice! I have this broody locked in a crate RN but I think I'm going to build a small coop and run for when things like this come up.

    Silkie chicks 11 weeks old

Both of these white ones also ended up being males, the partridge is a female. Hope that helps, but I'm not a silkie expert. I've only had a few.

    Silkie chicks 11 weeks old

My white one turned out to be a male and the buff was a female, if that's helpful. The females usually have more of a round pouf and the males feathers on the head are usually all different lengths. I will post some pics of mine now to show the difference

Do you have any other silkies the same age to compare it to? He may still be too young

    Broody ate babies?

Lucky me, another hen has become broody 🤦‍♀️ we made a crate for her so hopefully this ends up better. I've had chickens for 4 years and never had a broody, now I've had 2 in one month lol

    Broody ate babies?

We do have rats in the barn. Didn't think they'd eat chicks but they do eat their own babies so why not

    Broody ate babies?

Yes unfortunately she went broody in our barn which ain't closed up like our coop is at night. So that could be, but I wasn't sure if that would be the case since all the other chickens seem completely fine and we haven't had any raccoon problems in a long time. Also the mama is walking around...

    Broody ate babies?

I have a buff orpington that has been sitting on eggs for 19 days. I went out to check on her this morning, as the eggs were supposed to start hatching today. 6 out of 7 eggs were gone, there were shells lying around like the babies had hatched but no babies in sight. One egg hadn't hatched (I...

    I might have a broody?

Thank you. Hopefully I will see her again soon.. I was hoping I'd be able to lock her up today bc we have a storm coming. I hope she'll be OK. I've always wanted a hen to go broody but these aren't the best circumstances 😫

    I might have a broody?

I have others and she is very close to one of my other hens so I'm thinking she's broody bc I dont think she'd just leave her bestie behind like that. I will try locking her up with a new nest, if she comes back... Haven't seen her all day 😔 I'm starting to worry

    I might have a broody?

So I need some advice, my hen has been disappearing during the days and nights and only coming around a few hours each day, in the mornings. I assume she's broody, the problem is 1) she is going off our property into one of our neighbors yard and idk where her nest is and 2) her eggs are not...

    Show me your duck pools/ponds!

That'd what my husband wanted to do as well! But for now he has just ordered a biggie kiddie pool. The sides look like they'll be super flimsy tho so idk how I'm gonna get the ducks in and out. They're terrified of us so I won't be able to pick them up 😔
