This may be a very silly question, but are those long white strands moving and wiggling? Are the worms still alive in the poo? I found a couple single strands in different poo this morning but they were NOT moving.
Thanks for taking the time to reply! I hope that after a year and a half she had more eggs in her! Yikes! She is a pet for sure, but would love her to get the eggs going again! Fingers crossed!!
i have a 2 year old Blue Swedish who STILL had not started to lay this spring!! The last green egg I have seen from her was in November. All of the other duck, and also 2, either layer all winter or have restarted a few months ago.
Does anyone have any thoughts to this?
No stress, excellent soy...
Oh sheesh, sorry lol. No, she laid every other day all winter! But this winter is when I noticed that the hens were eating her eggs. I now get they were eating them as the egg was to weak when it dropped out of her.
Maybe this is a seasonal issue?
Ok thanks! I have free choice calcium out 24/7, so I just need help in figuring out why she isn’t taking in enough calcium for a hard shell. All the other ducks have very hard shells and no issues.
A follow up to this thread I started!
So, I believe I have discovered that the hens were not pecking and eating this duck’s egg intentionally! As I was able to get to this duck egg before the hens, I found that my Pekin (2 in April) is laying NOT a very hard egg. It is denting or cracking on...
I only have 4 ducks. 2 have laid all winter and the other 2 haven’t laid since November....I keep thinking something is wrong, but am hoping it is just seasonal!
I am happy to report that both ducks that are laying, laid in a bottom nest box, and I got them in touched this morning! I am hoping that the fake duck eggs I left out all day yesterday may have helped! Was hoping that they pecked at them enough that they will give up!!!
Thanks for everyone’s...
Thanks for your suggestion! I appreciate your help! I have 2 that haven’t layer all winter and they other two’s are the ones getting eaten, so I don’t have any other duck eggs, lol. But when I can get them, I will try it
Thank you, I have thought about that as well. But they are well fed! They eat a non gmo, soy free layer feed from Sunrise farms. Excellent feed! They also get scratch late afternoon on very cold days, and a bit for breakfast, also on cold days. That is very high protein an I always add...
Well I am sure that is where it is headed. But as of now, no. Don’t have a separate house and run:(
Was hoping for suggestions first.
Thank for your help!
Looking for some advice or experience...
Over this winter I have a hen, or multiple that are eating my duck eggs. I do have them in the same run and huge coop. I have one duck that will lay in a bottom nexting box, but the others lay down anywhere on the floor of the coop. I have found floor...
