    Chick with crusty eye feathers

I’m currently having a similar issue with a Silkie chick from my latest hatch. Roughly 4 days old, and only one out of the bunch has goooy eyes. Everyone else is happy and busy as can be.

    Chicken Lice

Ok, I’ve had poultry for a few years now and this is the first time I’ve actually seen any poultry lice on my birds. I have been checking everyone over and some seem to have a few here and there, where others don’t appear to have any. I have only found eggs on one rooster so far. this may...

    Lethargic Silkie Chicken

No discharge, today she did the same exact thing as yesterday. Got warm inside, went back out and partied with her flock. I posted a camera at the coop door so I’ll be able to see if she’s getting out in the night.

    Lethargic Silkie Chicken

So recently here in New England our weather has began to get a bit cold. Friday night into Saturday we got over an inch of rain and Saturday morning I found one of my silkies crouched with it’s wings hanging down covered in mud/dookie. I brought it in, warmed and cleaned it up, and it went back...

Bloody poop in 5 week old chicks

Yea I doubt it’s the normal lining shed, it looked like a crime scene this morning when I went to bring everyone outside

Bloody poop in 5 week old chicks

I have been feeding my chicks medicated feed since day one. This morning when I went to check the brooder there were quite a few bloody poops. I’m presuming coccidiosis, what else can I do to remedy them? I do not want to lose all of these birds!

    Lethargic Chicks

I will definitely try it. I’m wondering if tractor supply had a bad batch of Marans. Especially since it’s only the Marans that aren’t doing well

    Lethargic Chicks

i have been feeding them medicated starter feed. I clean the brooder out 3x daily and everyone else is happy and healthy. It’s just the Marans that aren’t doing well. I will definitely try the mash! Currently I have moved the weak chicks to a separate make-shift brooder so it’s nothing fancy...

    Lethargic Chicks

Not sure if they are eating. I’ve separated the very weak ones, I can get them to drink. Someone finally pooped and it appears to be a white/brown watery mix which doesn’t seem right.

    Lethargic Chicks

Long story short I ended up with a dozen TSC chicks. 6 Marans and 6 olive eggers. 2/6 of the Marans have died, and I believe another is on its way. They are quite small for week old chicks, I’ve tried doing the electrolyte water mix and they’ve been on medicated feed. Anything else I should try?

    The rooster rules the roost

So we’ve currently got 9 hens 1 roo and 5 chicks. I don’t cuddle or coddle them. They are allowed to free range and the rooster does great keeping the flock safe. Recently the rooster decided that anything/one not chicken was definitely out to get him so he has gone from regular jerk rooster to...

    Hens co-parenting?

The two hens are doing fantastic co parenting now that I’ve moved them to another coop.

We’ve got 4 chicks that these two clucks are taking pretty good care of. Silly stuff I gotta say.

    Hens co-parenting?

Ok well all intelligence questioning aside I tried separating both hens with little luck. They flipped their lids being separated. So as of now I’ve separated both hens, eggs and chicks from the flock and set them up in a separate coop. So we shall see how it goes from here.

    Hens co-parenting?

I never said you didn’t know what you were doing. Never said I didn’t know what I was doing either. Point being this is my first having 2 goofy hens on one clutch of eggs. Sorry if you felt I was doubting your experience. Best wishes to you.
