Ok.. Day 23 , yes, 23 and I Have 1 hatched , 1 pipping , and 1 chirping in the shell... and we were going to give up on the little things had nothing happened by the evening.. Guess it is always better to wait.. Anyone else having late hatches???
Hello. I was just wondering if anyone had any fertile eggs they would like to sale that is fairly close to Rockcastle county? We would like to incubate here soon. If so , just email or pm me , thanks.
I am waiting AGAIN, this time , no early pipps like normal, starting to worry , getting dishearted , thinking we will stop after this last batch due to hatch next week till at least spring.. I will keep you posted. 15 is what I am waiting on....
On day 19 we had 2 beautiful SLW's out of a total of 4 fully developed eggs. These little things started peping on day 18.. they were as bad as me wanting them to hurry up and get here.. These are our first baby SLW and I just love them.. We have more due to hatch on the 1st and setting more...

Just what type /breed of bird is he? I want one or two or 20.. he sure if pretty.. I need to know what he is so I can get some down here in KY..
Thanks. We did not squish anything , we were actually cleaning the stuck droopings off them when we just decided to look to see if there was any difference in it. Some older man told us that the males would have a bump (manly hood) above their bum , and the hens would not so we wanted to see if...
I have heard that you can tell the sex of the chiks by their rear ends. Is this true? If so , when we looked at them tonight there was some with like a squinted bum , and some with a round bum. Can anyone tell me if this means anything , or how to tell them apart when they are about 2 weeks...
we now have 2 SL peeped and trying to get out, more of them rocking and some RIR and Red Stars chirping and rocking , day 19 here , so we will see.. Last time late , this time early.. shooting for 100% hatch this time, figured I would set my goals high.. I will keep you posted.
Bless your heart and your little girls too, I can see the tears in her eyes and it made me cry.
Is there any bubbles in her eyes.. ?? It can be a couple of things, it could be worms, and right now there is another disease with chickens that if you go on here and go to the Kentucky chat room or...
We looked at the book again and it does say 99.5 , and yeah , we always keep the one out and take the other one out on day 18.
I understand what you are saying about nature taking care of things, I have told my hubby that too many times and he still thinks it is something we have done wrong ...
We had a digital one and it was not reading right or something so we stoped using it. It is a still air one , we actually have 2 that we hatch from year round.
Let me ask a crazy question... I know when you are at day 18, you are to take the other plug out by what the book says, but what would...

LOL... He said you are a good chicken chaser and you will be the first to call if he has to chase any.. He did not go to Russell Springs last night , the man going with him , or taking him I should say , did not want to go with it raining and all so maybe next week..
Yes , we have a...
There was no peeping in the egg shell , and this was the only hatch that was 3 days late , even though we have had this problem in all our hatches, I am unsure of the humity level, we just make sure we add water every day it needs it , and we do what we are supposed to do. The temp was fine all...
Ok.. Had to share OUR addiction problems,
Here it goes, Hello, we are the Taylors and we are so addicted to chickens that we can think of nothing else(besides our 6 human children) except chickens. We had 2 bators going till yesterday , now down to one , but it is being cleaned now , and more...
OH yeah , hubby just reminded me that the inside of the eggs were a bit dry too but humity was fine during hatching , even put a sponge in there with them to aide in that.
I have a question. Out of every hatch we have had , we have some eggs that do not hatch, we always crack them open at the end around day 25 or longer to insure they are not going to hatch , and they are fully developed and feathered out , but they never piped or nothing. What could be causing...
Croney00 ,
Hey there!!! Are those cochins doing ok for you? My hubby said to tell you he had some Blue Laced Red Whyndotts for you when ever you are ready to come run them around the yard..LOL He is crazy.. I figuared out who that was with the bad chickens in the Berea area, I made a few calls...
Helllo. I read your post and I wanted to share my experience with you on this one. The first one I had like this was our last hatch the begining of October and we had one little fellow with a broke looking leg and he managed fairly well, I made sure he got his food and water several times a day...
No worries yet, we had ours to start hatching on day 21 and it is now day 23 and they are still hatching. We had never had any to hatch past day 19 or at least start to hatch so this was a strange hatch for us too. Seems like there is a lot of people with these late hatchings right now. Good luck
Thanks for the information. If you want any baby RIR or Red Stars we will have some on the 13th , and maybe , hopefully a few SL's that we are trying this time. I wish I could find me some top hats or just eggs would be ok too. Thanks again for your warning.. I will tell all I know about this...
