I'm thinking the darker one looking up is a rooster as it has more black than the rest that are more brown. They are about 2.5 weeks now. Beautiful bird's! Mine are so jumpy, i handle them every day, at least twice a day but they fly & jump around more than any breed I've dealt with lol (have...
Thank you dear! I've given them some salmon for now, having DH pick up some sunflower seeds...hoping it's just a vitamin deficienty & she will get better with time. We shall see.
Bumping - please help - other chickens not showing illness of any kind yet...all in quarantine right now...I'm starting to think the chicken with the crooked neck could be sick & vitamin deficient? Someone's expertise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Now i have found 1 soft shelled egg laying on the ground outside the steps of my house...which is odd bc we've never had an issue with any laying in the nesting box. I'm thinking it may be the chicken with the crooked neck? I'm not sure, but i think that's who layed it. I'll be separating her...
Hi everyone, i currently have 2 sick buffs. I'm not sure if both sicknesses are related or 2 different illnesses.
1 buff i noticed yesterday walking around with a crooked neck...i followed her around today & noticed that her neck won't straighten, she keeps it to the side. I haven't noticed...
That's wonderful! We are trying to breed our first set of rabbits that we have. We have 6 hens & 1 rooster...we are getting more chickens & ducks this spring. We also are farming mealworms for the birds :) we are looking into goats for the summer or fall, once we have an area fenced for...
I was starting to wonder the same thing as two of my six newly laying chickens are giving us 2-3 yolks per egg ;) I guess we'll just enjoy them while they last :)
Living in Cabool, MO. Have a great, beautiful, bantam silkie rooster. He is free-ranged...idealy, I would like him to be able to free-range wherever he is located, as this is what he knows/understands (not cages or fencing - unless it's a large fenced area).
Is a fantastic rooster, feeds &...
Haha, too funny! I make fermented foods for my chickens too. Usually from my sourdough starter or i just make them some aged sourdough bread, crumble, let it dry out & they love it! :)
You have a way with words, my dear, that touches my heart - & i can totally relate to!! You are a fine poet & writer (& if you say you're not...then, i tell you, you are!! ;) ) I love your pictures & reading every word :)
I got my ducks mixed up (see how well i retain stuff lol)...it's actually the cayuga ducks we'll be getting :P i hear they are calmer breed.
DH wants to put geese with the ducks, but everything I've read is after the brooder stage, they don't mix well :/
