suspect broken back
I have a young rooster that has grown too heavy for my ladies. He is rough and just jumps on when mounting. A Buff Orphington ..I also have a Buffy hen that he has injured. she can stand and walk a few steps,,but that is about it. I have put her in a large pen where she can see the other...- katie5668

My lil group of webfooters...Khaki duck in front...of course! So sad , I have 2 Khaki ducks and one was sitting a nest with about 20 eggs. Well the past few weeks of rain and storms have flooded the nest and then covered the eggs with mud completely. So NO babies for now. They would be Khaki... -

we all have animals that choose to remain outside and it is for sure they are aware there are BAD guys out there. She had a good time while with you & you have memories . My chickens, geese and ducks bring lots of laughs..both while here & for years later when I look at pics or just do some...- katie5668

Ok..here's one for all of us geese crazy folk! I changed my shoes! I have worn white deck shoes all summer..tonite I grabbed a pair of dark brown slip ons...like clogs. My gander took one look at my feet and almost attacked me!! The goose was running around with her head down focused on... -

I am not an expert but they look like the geese I have. The one with the darker head stripe is probably a gander..also check & see if his cheeks are a bit fuller than the other ones as ganders usually have fuller cheeks than the goose.. also as I am learning...the gander tends to walk around... -

I have found that the Toulouse is a gentle breed..both sexes. I have never had an issue with the Toulouse Gander ..I have had perhaps 5 pair over time. Good luck & I hope they are what you are looking for. -

@Horsebackrules....not sure if your question was directed at me and the pics I posted or just a general out there question. My geese I think are Chinese ,,not Africans. From what I have been told there are not many true Africans around. Whatever...for a friendly companion type goose...I swear... -

sorry to hear about the attack...sucks! Yep understand the got more to do than seems possible at times... Like you..tis up to me mostly...DH put the chicken house up...and other than eating the eggs he is done with chickens. One of my ducks got bit by a spider or something & had a weird food...- katie5668

I keep a couple of tubs out for fresh water for my fowl flock. I change this several times daily. The geese stand by as I am doing this..the result is..... Herminie in a tub! They all take turns..but she will jump in ,,flop down & then wants me to stand there with the hose sprinkling her... -

I agree..with egg chickens or meaties ...chickens tolerate cold without much issue at all! The duckie slide was so funny... Hope all are having a great Sunday...we are building a storage shed off the side of the chicken house ..need to keep the feed bins and the hay in there. Oh ..when I...- katie5668

Thanks..they are a lot of company when working outside. They hung the fenceline as they are sure the only reason I am out there is to pick weeds and grass for them! There is a great deal of cheering and shouting that goes on as they encourage me to do a good job..it does sound like... -

I clean nests daily or as needed... I keep the floor shavings picked up ...and replace them at least once a month. My hens have a 10x10 wooden shed and a large open yard that has hay thrown on it as well as weeds. I do not mind visitors..I just want notice that they are coming. I might be out...- katie5668

I have what I have been told are probably Chinese Geese......... I have had geese before..had some white ones...from Big R..so who knows the breed ,,blue eyes & nice temperament. Then have had Toulouse when living in Oklahoma..they are indeed quiet geese..this is the one I have now..named... -

I used to live in an area where there were "egg houses"...I was appalled at the conditions the hens live in . Most folks do not even realize what it is like to have fresh eggs. Admittedly places ..well large cities do not lend themselves to self reliance so store bought is all there is. I do see...- katie5668
