I am WOMAN..... as I beat my chest show you pictures of my coop!!

Well that's crappy! They didn't even give him a chance to fit in! But I know that is a risk we take when we rehome. Last year I rehomed a bantam delaware rooster and a pr. of self blue OEGBs and every time I drive by the farm where they went I'm tempted to pull in and see if they are still...

    5 oz. Egg

When I brought the egg to work today (I usually bring eggs to my co-workers) we had a great "show and tell" session. Their reaction was similar to everyone here! One of the guys that works in the next office came over with his cell phone and took a pic to send to his wife LOL! This is one...

I am WOMAN..... as I beat my chest show you pictures of my coop!!

I'm late to the party, but wanted to say what an awesome job you did!!! Way to go. I've been trying to learn to use power tools, but my DH gets really worried when I try to do things myself. He's more than a little protective! I'm not sure if it's protective of me or the tools! ETA: What...

    5 oz. Egg

I just use a regular food scale that I got at WalMart. I'm at work, so can't crack it open right now. I'll update when I do.

    5 oz. Egg

Yep, a 2XL. The 1.5 oz. is from one of our Welsummers. I'm pretty sure the 5 oz. is at least a double yolker. We've yet to have a triple. I told DH to watch for the hen that is walking funny!

    5 oz. Egg

I think this is the largest egg we've had so far. I was shocked when I checked the nests yesterday. Wish I knew which hen laid it. I googled egg sizes to find out which weight is associated with which egg size.

Take obese children from parent's custody?

Many schools HAVE eliminated PE AND sports due to budget cuts.

Take obese children from parent's custody?

IMO a huge problem is that High Fructose Corn Syrup is added to most processed foods and fast foods. Makes it cheap, but low/no nutritional value at all. Fills the tummies, but doesn't do much else. Other than making everyone fat! Most "average" Americans know little to nothing about proper...

I would NOT want to faint in a chicken coop!

I am one of those folks who is determined to NOT let anything slow me down! DH calls it hardheadedness!

I would NOT want to faint in a chicken coop!

I crawled, in the pouring rain, to the back door, found my cell phone, which I pulled off the table by the charger cord, and to a chair, where I was able to pull myself up and drape myself over the seat of the chair. I called DH, who was over an hour away, and told him he needed to come home...

I would NOT want to faint in a chicken coop!

This is a great thread! One rainy November morning, after DH left for work, I went out to let the chickens out, then went into the pen to put food in the feeders. When I hit the mud (and other ingredients) inside the pen, both my feet slipped out from under me and I landed on my butt so hard I...

How many here are actual backyarders vs. Farmers?

Backyarder - although my "yard" is 11.5 acres. Hubby retires in December, so we hope to have more than just the 34 chickens we have right now. They are just used for eggs now. Haven't gotten up the nerve to process any yet.

My ALL(!!) done city coop - the girls have moved in!

Wow, I really like the way you did your door's/windows on the end of the coop. I need to show this to DH. It would be a great modification for our bantam coop! Thanks for the idea!

My ALL(!!) done city coop - the girls have moved in!

This coop is beautiful. And the citrus green would be beautiful with it. I started painting the furniture on my entry porch over the weekend. Chairs-turquoise, Table-yellow with red trim, Front Door - red, Flower pot - red, Chair Cushions - red, turquoise, citrus green & tan stripe. DH said...

    Fox Attack in Broad Daylight

UrbanFarmerGirl - yes, the JRT is fine with the chickens, much to my surprise! In fact one of my bantam roosters will jump him if he gets too close to them. Other than that the chickens usually ignore him. The only problem with leaving him out with the chickens when we aren't there is that...

? about 2 hens sitting on eggs together. Not sure what to do

I've had a buff orpington sitting on eggs for about 18 days, then I noticed her outside with the rest of the flock. When I went in to see about the eggs there was a RIR sitting on them. She's still there. The eggs should start hatching in the next day or so. She's sitting on a couple dozen...

FoodSaver Systems.. Anyone ever used them or have one?

Cacky- I looked too and was wondering about the extra features as well. We don't eat enough beef to warrant and infusion setting and DH only likes chicken one way - seasoned with lemon pepper and cooked on the Geo. Foreman Grill! I was thinking the $59 one might be more my style. It's just...

Thanks for the tip on the Cabela's sale. I'll have to jump over and check it out. I've been wanting one of these for a while now.
