The problem with a nutrition class is, no one would pay too much attention in that class. Im in high school, and I just think thats how it would turn out. Besides it would really only change a few(per class) into eating well. Just the way we(as teens) are.
We still have PE in my school. But it was a joke. We had "carido" if you can even calll it that, 2 times a week. However, almost no one tried to do well, myself included. Me and my friends, we would slowly jog, cause we couldnt get in trouble. And the big kids, for example, if we had to run a minute walk 30 seconds, halfway through, they walk the entire time, and still get fdull credit. So if you can fget an A by walking, then why not? Trying hard in gym will actually get you called names( at least in my school) unless we play dodgeball. But yes, it does get you off your butt but you do very liitle, in my school.
I think that varies by the individual kid. I know when I was in school we did have a Nutrition Ed class and I loved it. Not sure why I loved it, LOL, but it was something a little different than boring math, etc. I think there could be many ways to make it interactive and fun for kids to learn about nutrition. Ever watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution? Those high school kids have a blast, because it's hands on, and their opinions get heard.
