Take obese children from parent's custody?

I love his shows but so mad at the districts for kicking him out or telling him he can not visit the cafeteria.....

Sounds like the kids are running the school in picking what food THEY want and the district wants to profit from pizzas, chicken nuggets in the worst processing manner than homemade/self made REAL products. Before long, we will be eating foam and plastic food...such junk!

I know we have all seen families while out in public and see the parents and the children overweight, if the parents have weight issues for non medical reasons it is safe to assume they lack the will power and the effort to keep their childrens weight under control and at healthy levels. I have also seen a trend where folks say Ohh we aren't fat just a little chunky when they are clearly Rotund. I do however agree that our society has many road blocks in place to keep you from making good weight control choices, food additives, and things like that. Regional geography also has merit where here in the south they fry everything in sight, and it's known as home of the Fat people, it's a shame we have sunk so far in staying healthy as a nation, no wonder the rest of the world looks upon us a country of slackers, I don't agree with that but it sure seems that way at first glance.

I think its the easy way out to blame everyone but the parents for kids or even the parents being over weight.

65% of the population just didnt get some kind of genetic disorder/health proublem in the last 30 years that caused them to be over weight even morbidly.
Sure we can blame corn syrup, commercials, cheap easy food, our friends, our family or the government, but then that is the easy way out instead of taking personal responsibility.

People have to chose if the reward for being healthy is more inportant then the reward for eating junk food.

Parents have to stop feeling bad when they tell there kids no,we are not here to be there friends and feed em junk we are here to raise them up healthy and well ajusted.

And yes if your killing your kid with food and your 2 year old weights 100 pounds then your not doing whats best for your child your doing whats best/easy for you.

How about we start doing whats best for this nations children our future,we need to stop this train wreck.

Oh lordie the drink machines at my kids school is so stupid and makes me want to slap the soda police. They don't have soda but they have sports drinks that have just as much sugar and more than the soda did. One of the machines has various iced teas that is supposed be natural. I picked a peach tea and couldn't even drink it there was so much sugar in it. Yes they even took away the diet sodas and replaced them with the sugary syrupy sports drinks and teas.

In our house we cook meals. Hubby and I share the cooking so neither gets tired of it. We get junk food the night he gets paid which is every two weeks and Costco pizza the next day. I don't know how many times I've heard her friends or even a teacher say last night we just had a bowl of cereal for dinner or cup o noodles. Not because they couldn't afford food but they were too tired or feeling too lazy to make a meal. My daughter thinks we are weird because we do a meal and eat at the table together. My hubby's teen years were spent eating junk food for dinner at least 5 times a week. He was a typical teen guy who could eat like a horse and still be thin. He just prefers meals from home. They are balanced and alot cheaper than going out.

My daughter was able to take an online PE class. She got full credit for it. She weighed 340 lbs. I thought ir beyond funny that they could do that.

I have seen plenty of fat kids. Lot are obese and some are morbidly obese. The BMI chart is one of the best ways to determine obesity. A doctor can tell if a person is muscular so is carrying more weight than a non muscular person. It's just a guide after all.

Obesity can absolutely be controlled by diet. My family has fat genes. Both parents grew up thin and turned to fat later in life. Me and my 2 sisters started thin and I started getting fat around 7, my older sister had an extra 20 lbs by 14 but met a guy that told her he would leave her if she got fat. She married him and is still thin at 54. She is very careful about eating well. My younger sister turned fat at around 13.

I think it had a lot to do with TV for me. When my parents were growing up they listened to radio programs for entertainment and went to the movies. They both ate foods that were very high in fat, starch, cholesterol and sugar. When I was growing up we had a black and white TV till I was around 8. Then we got color. Every day after school it was TV at the babysitters house. Then more TV at home. We had TV trays and ate in front of the TV. The only exercise I got was riding my bike.

I used to scoff at the idea of genes and metabolism. However we have 5 adopted kids. All from different gene pools. Three of them are skinny as a rail and eat like horses. The other 2 have to watch what they eat and could very easily end up obese if they were given too much bad food or if they stopped their level of activity. Obesity has been coming on ever since the advent of entertainment 24 hours a day in front of the boob tube. High fructose corn syrup has just made it go out of control.

Once they get fat it is hard to come back. The best thing you can do for your kid is keep them from getting fat. Being fat as an adult is bad. Being fat as a kid is horrible. It screws up your self confidence something terrible and affects you through your whole life. You always wonder if you didn't get that job because you were fat. People look at and treat you with less respect. I was fat for my whole life. I got a gastric bypass and lost 125 pounds. The difference in the way people treat me is absolutely amazing. It's also sad. I've never blamed anyone for me being fat though. Too much food and not enough activity. I got a bypass because it keeps me from eating too much food. I also get sick if I eat too much sugar or grease. So it's a control mechanism. Good habits have to be developed at a very young age. Switching when you get older and maintaining that switch is impossible for most people. Anyone who is fat knows that.

Quit blaming society if your kid is fat and do something about it. You control their food intake for the most part. Make sure they don't have spare change to buy that candy at school. Cut out any crap food they like. Take them for bicycle rides. If you're too tired just tie them to the back of the car and drive at a slow pace. They'll come with you. You might want a spotter just in case though.

Has anyone else heard about the addictive additives they put into fast food cheese to make people crave it more? Or is that an urban legend?

What is even worse is the signs posted in every Mickey-D's that clearly states their foods contain CANCER CAUSING additives and cooking oils! WHY is it ciggarettes and alcohol are sold only to those over 18 or 21, but ANYONE with a dollar can buy a cancer-causing cheeseburger or fries????? HUH?

Next kids will be taken from their parents because of the terminal illness' caused by the addictive fast food parents fed their kids that made them obese.....

mom'sfolly :

I've never seen a MickeyDs with a sign saying that the food has cancer causing additives.

Any charred or meat cooked at high temperatures has carcinogens....

Yep- Ive seen and read them. They are inside the store and usually VERY inconspicuous. Maybe they dont have a law where you live making them post the info? Honestly, Im not sure its a actual law here to post the info, but its there- right on the wall in the Mickey-D's inside the Roseville Ca, SuperWalMart. I was suprised and grossed out to read it. I no longer go there and I freak out when hubby buys it for my kids. It was never a regular thing for us, but now its a no-go for me.
