Just bought this incubator-- tell me I'm not crazy!

hi revelu! i leave mine in the bator to hatch but i turn the "turner" off during the last two days (i hatch serama usually). for my last hatch i left the babies in the r-com for a full day after the hatch but i lowered the humidity by quite a bit during that time. during other hatches i have...

My 1st chicks (added pics) & question about removing from incubator

adorable! congrats. i usually leave my babies in the bator until they are dry or near dry and then i move them to a brooder. if they aren't drying off fast enough i do try to adjust the humidity so that they dry more quickly. it looks like you did a great job!

otg is right - you don't have to but it can be really exciting to do so! i would recommend you candle at least one egg just for the thrill/wonder of seeing that little chick moving around LIVE in the shell. it's such an awesome feeling. what i do when i candle is i do it right next to the bator...

i'm a dork and i need advice on my current hatch!

update: the most developed egg hatch yesterday! the chick seems fine. i didn't see him pip or zip - he was FAST! because i was using the r-com i couldn't take the turner out, i could only turn it on or off. i opted to leave it on and leave the humidity at a normal level. apparently that didn't...

Do you cry when they die?

it's always sad when our little ones don't make it. most of us get sad i think. i had one that passed last week and i posted the little story just lookin' for hugs cause i was sad. i'm very sorry for your loss. and please don't be so hard on yourself. it is 'natural' for some chicks to die in...

    homemade chicken-themed creative exchange?

i love to trade art - do you? in particular i am a huge fan of "funky" art. i love stuff that is imperfectly perfect - one of a kind stuff that has character, spunk and whimsy. (these qualities are hard, if not impossible to find in mass produced "art.") . you don't have to be a "good" artist...

    Show us your baby bird pics ! ! ! ! !

i hatched this little serama dude last week. he was the first one out of the eggs and i named him "rocky" because he wanted out soooooo bad. he fought like a little champ to get himself out of that darn egg. he is a very energetic little guy and photographs well. i didn't notice it until i...

Mystery ducks off on eBay! (got the wrong breed!)

sorry about your experience, what a bummer. i've had good and bad luck with ebay but i've only every bought "stuff" and not birds or eggs. i've had people not send my items once i've paid and such. however, i've also gotten really awesome deals on ebay on "one of a kind" items and so i just...

    just need a few hugs

i hatched out a batch of serama eggs last thursday and had 15 babies hatch live. the smallest of the chicks seemed to be having trouble standing/balancing and would lay on his right side all the time but he was very verbal so i though maybe it was simply a splay leg or something along those...
