I keep mine out in the garage area, from day one no matter the temp. As long are they have a heat lamp and they are at the right temps they will be ok.

    Water warmers

I have some of the heated plastic ones they work great. In my big coop I just have a 250 red light hanging and surprisingly it keeps the water from freezing as long as I have the part the water comes out pointed towards the light. The other 1/2 does get ice in it but not enough for it to all...

I was going to buy some but so far I haven't had to. Friends and people that work near me have given me a tun of them. One day I may buy some but right now the girls are just starting to cover their food costs at 2.00 a dozen. I sell 12-14 dozen a week at work. If I start selling more they may...

    Crop issue? Very emaciated.

I'm not familiar with it in chickens but I used to breed parrots and sometimes a chick would get sour crop, which this sounds like. I'd give them some yogurt, apple cider vinegar and we did have to use Nystatin too.

Backyard eggs vs. store bought eggs

That is sad. She is probably allergic to them, many people are and some don't know and you can develop an allergy to anything at any time. For a long time I couldn't eat certain fruits bananas, cantaloupe and watermelon. After a few years of allergy shots I can eat them with no problem plus no...

how much do you charge for your eggs?

We currently are selling our eggs for 2.00 a dozen. On our street there are several with chickens and I have seen signs for 1.50. The 2.00 barely covers our feed but better than none. I don't sell from the house I have a small store in a local market and I sell them to other vendors. I may raise...

    best brand of chicken feed?

I like Kent multi flock best but the feed store that carries it has raised the price to over 15.00 for 50LB. I like pellets and that is the only pellet feed they have. I also get Dumor layer pellets at TSC for only 11.00 so when we make a trip up there I get a few bags.

Small feeder and waterer for small pen?

They will go in when hungry or thirsty. I have three coops and all the feeders and waters are inside no problem. If you are limited on space inside I think the mailbox type feeders take up much less room. you'll need a chick waterer for when they are small but a adult feeder is ok. I put bricks...

sugestions for types of plants to put in a chickem yard

Anything you put in the chicken's yard or run will disappear very fast. We had two trees cut down and used the mulched leaves and branches in the run they were over two feet deep and now just a few months later all of it is scratched and eaten away and they are back to dust bathing in the dirt lol
