    Water needed in tractor?

I am curious to know how you are making out with this? We are going to be using a big metal outdoor dog cage (putting wheels on it) to use during day as well. I hope I don’t need nesting boxes during that time but I guess I could make something small and mobile.

Do my hens need vitamins over winter?

I think they are fine. I have only seen one of them loose a few feathers around back of neck and head but now new ones are in. Maybe a mild molt. This is their first year. Thank you

Do my hens need vitamins over winter?

New to chickens. I have 10 hens. It’s been cold here in Maryland lately in the teens at night. Wondering if I should give them any vitamins in their water over the winter? They are on poulin Grain layer feed, I give some scratch, black fly larvae and a few scraps (cabbage and apples they love).

First Winter in Maryland covered run should it be wrapped in winter?

We have come to conclusion to let the cool air in the run. We are not going to enclose it. It is covered and they have plenty of places to roost to get off the ground if they choose. And the Coop if they want to go in. Thank You for your reply

First Winter in Maryland covered run should it be wrapped in winter?

We are in the corner of Maryland/ Delaware/PA line. Last year we didnt see any snow and temps normally dont see single digits here at night. It could happen but not a normal evening night thing. One side of the Run is beside a hedgerow of trees which protects it from bad wind, the other side...

I understand for your area wow. They are fortunate you take time to do this. We didn’t even see snow last year so I am not sure we need to wrap our run.

First Winter in Maryland covered run should it be wrapped in winter?

I see so many posts but couldn’t really find anyone in my area. My chickens so far seem to enjoy the cooler temperatures (28 at night and 32-50 in days). Wondering if there is any need to wrap the fully covered run in plastic? My hens have access to their coop all day but seem to hang in the...

Lavender Orpingtons same age but obvious head and comb size difference.

Just looking for opinions. The one with smaller head does seem to be on bottom pecking order. I haven’t been able to see if she is laying yet. They are about 8 months old. I thought I could attach a video but guess not. I’ll try to take pictures tomorrow

    First Dirty Butt Cleaning!!

Thank you for your kind response. My husband and I were able to get it off without soaking but I think it was uncomfortable for the hen. But it’s done and I will keep an eye on her to be sure it doesn’t happen again.

I have one that has a big wet droopy poop on her. It’s cold outside so don’t want to bath outside. I’ve never had to do this to an adult hen any images or suggestions are appreciated
