To Insulate? Or Not to Insulate? THAT is the question! :-)

I say, insulate it! Depending on where you live, summers are really hot and winters are quite cold. If you do insulate it, put in some windows or some vents. This way, if it gets too hot in the summer, you can open a window. My coop is insulated, keeps it warm in the winter, but it sure does get...

    My Coop Project (Pic Heavy)

I got a kitten last year in September or August and it was always around my chickens. It is curious about them but has never tried to approach one or has tried to eat one or anything. I say to give it a go!

Newbie says hello from Nampa, ID

I live in Caldwell, and Dunlap Hatchery has always been a great place to get chicks! D&B carries a great variety of feed as well as chicks during their yearly "Chick Days". Hope this helped!

I need some help, please :)

Are Buff Orpingtons good for broody? What about cochins, and if they are is there a preference on them, like which ones are more prone to broodiness, or if anyone that has had better luck with some of them than others? Thanks in advance.

    ITS PEEPING!!! but not pipping??

Well, the humidity was really really low. Like 16-32% the whole time so I'm surprise the chick even hatched. But, other than that, I don't really know why the others died... And thank you!

    What Now???

I would candle them, or, if you don't get grossed out easily, open one up, then just assume that the others are like that. Then, if they are dead, then you could just chuck the eggs out into a field(if you have one near you). If not, you can just bury them in the ground. I'm not sure about the...

    Clipping Wings???

Okay, I'm not sure that this goes under this catagory but, my chickens are getting in the preplanted field next to my house. They can also fly over the fence that encloses them in their little area. Can we clip the feathers on their wings to make them shorter so it is harder for them to fly...
