    The Malay stag with Scoliosis had officially been culled from the flock today. He'll be tasty though. He got spoiled until the end. He had the mutation for no preening gland, so at least I didn't have to remove one.

    Sapphire Gems are a sexlink chicken, males have barring, females are solid blue. Plus males would have a headspot, which would be noticeable on hatchlings.

    They can wear them for a good while, but they must be taken off periodically so they can preen underneath.

    A question about black/blue/splash

    Blue doesn't breed true, & doesn't always dilute every part of the black chicken. Splash, which is a double dose of blue results in black in the feathers as well, from time to time.

    I usually go 6 months for full size. But now that it's gonna be 3 of us, I'm gonna slaughter younger, at a smaller size.
