Leg trouble with 3 day old chick

I'll get the new vitamins. It doesn't feel like a slipped tendon. I can move the leg in a full range of motion without any discomfort to him. There is no swelling or discoloration.

Leg trouble with 3 day old chick

How do I help this chick learn to walk? It is not straightening one of his legs so when he tries to stand, he flips over onto his back. He has plenty of energy and eats and drinks if I help hold him upright. I do have vitamins in his water. I don't leave water in with him because I'm afraid...

Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

Whew! I have finally finished reading this entire thread. Hi, Ben! I popped over to check you out at Oz's recommendation and I'm so glad I did! I have really enjoyed your story so far and everyone else's contributions are so entertaining. This is better than any television programming - a drama...

    Virginia

I know there's one up in Powhatan but that's just too far to go. Guess I'll be stuck doing yard work if I can't go chicken shopping.

    Incubators Anonymous

My first attempt at quail went into lockdown last night. I put all 14 in and have no idea how they are. I drove myself crazy trying to find a small/strong enough light to candle and all I could ever see was the shell spots! I gave up and figure I'll just find out in a few days. They're Gambel's...

The 5th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I love it! How cute! I keep hoping for a broody but since I broke my BO from brooding in January nobody wants to help me out now! Guess I'll just keep the incubators going nonstop!

Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

@Lenka Lockdown should be on Sunday evening if you set them on the evening of the 7th as I'm understanding it. Day 21 should start at the same time as set on the 28th.

    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Definitely! Since I started "doing chickens", I've moved on to ducks, have my first batch of quail going into lockdown next week, am now shopping for turkey eggs and can be caught side browsing pea fowl! My kids are ready to have me committed!

I'm afraid to count also but I'm even more afraid of ever getting to DMRippy's status! Wow!

    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Hmmmmm. How do turkeys figure into chicken math? If they are in the chicken coop but not chickens, they don't count at all, right? I'm going shopping for turkey eggs now!

    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Can they be in the same coop and run with chickens? Of course making sure there is enough room but just wondering if they will continue to get along post maturity.

Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Not sure the exact answer, but I can tell you that 50 lbs will last my 4 layers 6-7 weeks. I know some breeds eat more than others but I have 1 each of Buff Orpington, Light Brahma, Black Sex link, and Easter Egger. They are occasionally (2-3 times a week) supplemented with scratch, leftover...

The 5th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Great looking frames! How many hives do you have? All Langstroth or have you ever tried Top bar? We have 3 Langstroth and have started 2 Top bars this year - big difference and I'm not sure yet which I prefer.

    Call Ducks Finally Hatched

It seems to have straightened out on its own. Maybe I just panicked too soon and he was still a little scrunched from being in the egg. Look what I made to try to help contain the water mess. The wood chips are still dry after a day and a half! They even figured out the steps in less than 10...
