I have 4 adult (laying) chickens and 3 younger hens who have not begun to lay yet. Out of the 4 adults i usually get three eggs a day plus an occasionaly "fart"egg. Now I am only getting one egg a day and yesterday i didn't get any??? Any ideas? Nothing has changed with their enviroment or feed...
She is straining and she has lost all her feathers under her bum and around it. I can see her rear end but not an egg. I will try the bath tub trick when I get home. Thanks!

My rabbits are in with my chickens and will hardly eat their rabbit pellets anymore. They have been eating the chicken feed for a year now and are totally healthy. i wouldn't worry about it.
I extended our run out over part of our yard so the chickens would have more room. I built a frame of 2x4s and put hardware cloth over the top so the grass would grow up through it but the chickens couldn't dig up the roots. Works like a charm!!!

I use a metal reptile litter scoop that work great. I have been toying with bending hardware loth over a stall fork or something like that so i can have a bigger scoop but not sure yet.

I just put sand in mine a week ago. It is much easier to clean!! I left a small tray of shavings in there just in case they wanted to snuggle down and they do use it. Good luck:)
