This chick came from a ‘non-created’ bin…but obviously has something going on up top. Doesn’t look like the Polish babies we have and vaguely resembles our AS when he was young. Any thoughts? Photos are a week apart.
Don’t know the breed, but I’m suspecting he’s a EE or general ‘mutt’. 🤷♀️ He’s going to be pretty, but I never would’ve guessed the white chick with black spots would end up like this. 16 weeks-ish.
We had a broody hen, but eggs that didn’t survive the Texas heat. We tried an adoption, but our Jersey Giant said ‘nope!’ So we had to get a few more babies so they weren’t lonely 🤪. I think I know 2 of the three breeds, but have no idea on the 3rd. It was the only one that looked like it, so I...
Our 4 month old AS needs a name! I have added his ‘baby’ pictures and one from today. Some of our ladies are called ‘Nugget, Parm, Orange, Popcorn, Butterball…’. We have a chicken food theme 😂
He’s now a little over 4 months. Not quite acting like a male yet…he runs away from our dominant female 😂, but so far he’s doing well! He just needs a name.
As far as I know, we don’t have any other males. Our flock has some pretty dominant females though, so maybe that has impacted this? We received the Spitz, SS, WJG, Barred Cochin, and Black Australorp as a surprise box as chicks. All are roughly 15 weeks now. These photos were taken on Tuesday. 🙂
These lovely 5 are joining an existing flock of 6 ladies. The leader is a 2 year old Red Sex Link named Bertha (for good reason…she’s big!) who doesn’t have a problem showing her dominance. We have a couple acres, not too much traffic near by and they free range 90% of daylight hours. They...
It doesn’t bother me. My husband just doesn’t like it if they are high pitched. 🤷♀️ We had a Bantam Silkie roo for a while that was so loud and piercing! We called him RuPaul and he found a new flock with other Bantam Silkies. (He was our only Bantam and Silkie).
