Oh yeah, good looking cockerel. Do you have another rooster in your flock? All my Spitzes started to crow at 11 weeks. Another rooster could delay that though.

If you look at your original pictures, in the second one you can clearly see a tiny waddle behind the jaw (you can see it in both, but pic #2 is really telling). Female Spitzes don't show waddles forever, but males can be seen definitively as early as 3 weeks.
As far as I know, we don’t have any other males. Our flock has some pretty dominant females though, so maybe that has impacted this? We received the Spitz, SS, WJG, Barred Cochin, and Black Australorp as a surprise box as chicks. All are roughly 15 weeks now. These photos were taken on Tuesday. 🙂

I meant a mature rooster. Sometimes cockerels kind of "hide out" (not their fault) and are slower to mature if there's an alpha male around already.
Sorry, I can't help you with the other breeds. Spitzhaubens are fairly easy, I also have Ameraucana, which are pretty hard to tell. Sometimes you only know when you know with them and Ameraucana based EEs! 😳

The Spitz was the only one I have really questioned so far. He did a lot of posturing and flaring of his neck feathers fairly early on.

He’s now a little over 4 months. Not quite acting like a male yet…he runs away from our dominant female 😂, but so far he’s doing well! He just needs a name.
