I don't "think" she's scared of swimming, I know she is. I mean it's pretty obvious, she never want's to go in her pool. I saw a post about how you should just dip their feet in the water and it actually works lol. She just stopped panting. I gave her plenty of shade and also misted her feathers...
I have heard a lot of bad news regarding geese that share the same territory with chickens. I own Chinese Geese and know that they can be aggressive. I advise researching the type of chicken breed you want to get since I don't know much about chickens.
Most geese can be kept for guarding if not all. It just depends on how well they have established as a gosling. For a quiet goose, I would get an Embden.
Hi. Today I got my goose, Lucy, a pool, but Lucy has only been in the water once when She was little, but now She is almost nine weeks old. The last time I put her in a small tub, She freaked out. Lucy has never swum in her drinking water since it's like a milk gallon with a hole in the middle...
From experience, They need a lot of grass, about 80% of their diet. I would make a fence to separate the geese and dog and make sure the dog can't get the geese. Since you have no predators in your area, the geese can forage on the lawn all day, as long as the dog is secure.
