It seems very possible that you may have a couple of of every other day layers. My Bar Rocks lay 1 today and the other will lay tomorrow. But that makes it mote fun.
If you liver close to Texas, I suggest Ideal Poultry. Their minimum is $25.00 and no packing peanuts. I have used Meters and Whelp and love them, but the minimum is so many birds when I only want 10. Shipping is very reasonable and the closer to Texas then there is only a boxing fee.
I have a lemon cuckoo orpinton too that I would like to breed to my buff corp girls. Is there a possibility that I will get the barring on some of the chicks.
Ideal Poultry in Cameron Texas has a $25.00 minimum order so you don't have to order a full 25 if your just wanting a few of certain breeds. I order from them at least 3 times a year and they are all healthy and lively straight out the box. If there are issues they will refund or replace.
ok this may sound crazy. but i use tubs for waterers and float 2 little plastic balls in them. if wind or anything moves the air the balls move and keep the water disturbed so it doesn't freeze. living in East Texas our really bad weather does not come till late January.
Live in East Tx. tried it 1 winter, no difference. decided it wasn't worth it. that and the ladies think the security light is enough. as long as they are happy so am i.
I use the alphalfa cubes. the rabbits get 1 cube each dry. and then soak about 6 or so cubes 3 times a week as treats for the chickens. they love it as they cannot freerange curtesy of the coyotes.
Fishing line workd great for hawks and owls. i use 50lb test line and string it every 12 inches. also make different shapes. squares triangkes and what ever. they can't figure out how to get in without tangling in the line.
Definitely Ee's great layers but are known as mutts. i have several and would not give them up for anything. never go broody and give pretty eggs. and lotd of eggs. get 10 out of 12 hens every day.
