so now that i know Emma is laying blue eggs. when i hatch her chicks next spring. will my pullets also continue laying colored eggs? mom and dad are both EE's.........
No. oddly enough when she was a chick, all her down was dark chocolate all around. then her feathering came in and shes black and white. go figure. however the avatar chick is Megatron, my EE rooster. He was the runt of the flock and he turned out being the prettiest of all 5 of my cockerels.
YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!
My EE, Emma laid her first egg today:clap. Its a light minty green!!!! the picture doesnt do it justice. Its a really nice sized egg too. I was shocked it wasnt little at all like the others. She has made the last 6 months totally worth it for me today. No wonder she is...
Couldnt get good pictures of my girl today, so i stole these from my wifes instagram LOL. also included Megatron, our EE rooster. He's amazing. Cant wait to hatch their babies next spring. I also am gonna try to hatch some sexlink chicks with him and my barred rock Hen. Winter is gonna be...
Mine is Emma.
She is super smart. Really sweet. Eats out of my hand. Comes when called follows me around yard and squats wings out and waits til I tussle her some and chortles when I do it. Cute. Still waiting for eggs from her. Any day now I hope
They're scams. They don't work. Stay away. Remove all food and water overnight. leave just enough Dcon out for the rats to eat overnight but not leave any in the morning. Repeat every night for a few nights. Rats gone!
sorry, couldnt find a better place to post this.
so my eggs are all fertile.
I have read lots of conflicting info on storage, and decided im gonna not wash til i eat and leave on counter for now. have a dozen sitting there about 8-9 days. cracked 3 open this morning for breakfast and they...
But with fly strike the birds would show signs of sickness and change of behavior It's not something that happens suddenly. Is there any entry point at all. Even as small as a 1/2 inch? There's lots of critters that could surprisingly fit in real small spaces and do major damage. Has there...
yeah the light brown/pink ones is the barred rocks.
the brown is the ISA. witnessed both hens lay them.
guessing the speckled is the black sex link.
still waiting to see what the EE does.
Oh ok. well that does clear up some then. :)
Im in NC and we have rules like that here too, sorta.
Im outside the town limits so it doesnt really matter, but i did speak with neighbors first before i acquired our rosster and they were very cool with it. so i guess just check with yours too...
You can't stop a rooster from crowing. Doesn't matter if there's other males or not. It's a rooster. They crow. That's what they do. You can use a collar but it's more of a hassle than not. Also keep in mind he's sweet now. But once he matures 9 out of 10 will not be sweet and will take on...
couldnt get pictures to go right today June. but i caught my ISA in the next box so now, im sure she is laying the brown eggs which i thought she was too young for yet. so that leaves the black sexlink and the EE. now the EE's comb has gotten very red today. so now im guessing the specked egg...

thanks June!!! Well my choice roo is exactly what you said here. Cautious but not aggressive. Moves when I'm near almost out of respect. Watches the girls already. Warns them when there's danger and keeps them all in line. Plus is the first to respond to treats or threats. Guess he's the...
My EE's are 9 weeks old. Out of my 5 Roos. None are aggressive towards us humans. One is really sweet and actually likes us and is very very smart. About what age should I look out for them thinking they're the top dog around here instead of me. I'm rehoming 2 today and holding back 3. To see...
