Yes once a day most birds pass the icky poo...no worries if it goes on it may be something they are getting into...keep em out of mud and stagnant water. when I say mud...not the normal messes they make...places they shouldn't be like runoff areas or areas getting water and sunshine...it can be...
At this age...it will be mostly voice to go on...if you are hearing a "real"quack...a girl...a coughy kinda rasp waa waa ...it's a boy...tail feather is the last way to tell 10-12weeks. Super cute!
If your duck is growing bigger then the pekin and they are the same age....then it's a rouen for sure...Rouens grow faster and pekins grow faster than mallards...
You will hear their voices about 10-12 weeks. girls are loud and quack...especially pekin girls!...all boys sound like a raspy...
Yep,It's bumble foot and you should get some attention to it right away.
Will be a lot of work but if you follow Amiga's advice you'll get through it.
Keep on it...soak clean, wrap, change soak clean.
The big bumbles do require surgery..which sounds insane to most but is not that bad and your duck...
Awww! congrats Super sweet...I can't wait to get the season going again this year! Markings on your wee one are nice...
Markings you see as a duckling will be markings in the adult duck! Something that I appreciate when I am selling babies in the spring.
How wonderful too see so many new babies...
Good evening,I'll have hatching eggs soon...nothing pure but your welcome to them..$10/dz My laying flock is mostly pure breeds of several breeda with a handful of mixed hens from last summers hatches. Got rid of all the matching beautiful roos though (so hard)...Now I have 1 partridge...

mAGPIES Do have set patterns for show...but they do hatch out un-patterned markings...I usually hatch about 50% with proper markings...a handful of each batch fit for show! It does greatly depend on the parents you're breeding from...They are a real trick to breed for markings. The benefit is...
Thank you....They are great quackers....That are THRILLED the snow is gone gone gone...the mud is here (they love that not I!) and grass is trying to grow---The sun is feeling great!
Yes Chris,As soon as i heard i contacted wanita! What?...The blue ones are real nice and for some reason my blue males are much more calm than the blacks...The black males are pretty fighty around mating season...I'm separating my groups next week for this 2013 spring batch...Finding out...
yes I'd say inky is a Magpie!....Occasionally an almost completely white one is hatched.---even from the best marked parents...not that uncommon...Magpies are one of the toughest breeds to get the proper markings on...Show quality is very specific,,,but every magpie is special...and Magpies will...
Beside is my beautiful white mandarin drake. It was a sad day when an ermine got him...evil critter. Never lost another duck since...just one of those moments in life I guess...still have his partner, a daughter and another pair or normal coloured ones.
Anyways,back to Magpies...don't know what...

I'm guessing you are in the states though...I'm in Ontario Canada...been breeding and raising awesome magpie ducks for 5 years now....6 of my breeders are from Holderreads last year...a couple from 2 years prior and other blood from a line I've been working on for a couple...

About 50 eggs per week.
Fertility is high around 90% right now.
Hatch rate is between 80-85% even on some peoples shipped eggs!
Ontario ships by Canpar...rest of Canada...
