Thank you both, that’s really helpful! I haven’t ever bred for a specific color so I wasn’t really sure where to start with the Isabel. Unfortunately I have neither a partridge or lavender, so this isn’t something I can start right away, but it’ll give me something to start with when I can!
Do...
Thank you!
I haven’t been able to find much even on google of true Isabel coloring. I like the diluted partridge pattern, but I think that’s closer to the porcelain color? I could be wrong, but from what I understand porcelain is diluted Mille fleur, and Isabel shouldn’t have any of the...
Do Isabel cochins exist in the US? I think the color is gorgeous and I’d love to find some, but I’m not having any luck. Does anyone know names/contact info of anyone who breeds them?
If not, can anyone point me in the direction of some good info on genetics and how I’d even go about breeding...
Hello, new here! I’m searching for Isabel cochins, as cochins are my favorite breed and isabel is my favorite color...makes sense to combine the two! Seems like it’s extremely rare though and I’m not having any luck finding any. Does anyone here have Isabel cochins? If not, anyone have good info...
Hello all,
I recently wormed my chickens with safeguard equine paste, just did an approximate “pea” sized dose. They had visible roundworms in their droppings, which is why I wormed in the first place. However I’m reading in a few places that I should have repeated the dose two weeks after I...
I know there have to be multiple threads on the diy foam cooler incubators, but for some reason I can’t find them. Anyone have links or know who to ask? I’ve got a cooler, a picture frame taped in as a viewing window, and a wax melter from Walmart as the heat source. Will this actually work??
Does anyone have silkie feathered bantam Cochins? I’m getting a pair (maybe a trio) in June, and I’m so excited! I absolutely love Cochins and the silkie feathers make them even more adorable imo. Anyone out there breed them? Just like them? Have pictures you want to share? I’m just excited...
I do have one more question if anyone knows - what are regulations in Jackson county? I’m finding an article from 2017 that talks about proposed changes allowing four hens and no roosters. The article sounds like it was written before the changes went into effect though, so I don’t know if it’s...
Hi all, I have been searching around for chicken keeping laws/ordinances for Flowery Branch/Hall county GA, but I have been unable to find anything. My current flock consists of 10 hens and a bantam roo, but I’m in Dekalb right now. We’re moving in the next month or so and I want to make sure my...
She looks better today. She’s much perkier than she’s been in days, and she’s been awake for almost an hour. I brought her outside to sit in the grass and she seems happy about it, even tried to eat a little grass. She can’t really manage to move around much though. She’s really wobbly when she...
Well hazel seems about the same this morning. Her crop was almost empty but not completely. I gave her a little bit more feed mash, but not a lot yet. She did have two droppings that weren’t bright green...the first that haven’t been green in five days. I’m hoping that’s a good sign!
I have seen her yawn/open her mouth and shake her head once or twice this evening. Could this have to do with her crop not emptying properly? Is there anything I should do about it, or just let her be?
Yes I was reading about that, so I’m not squirting it very far down her throat and sticking to the corner so it doesn’t go down the wrong pipe. I think I’ll try the tube feeding tomorrow though, it seems safer and more effective.
She’s drinking some water. Not much though. I’m ending up giving her a fair amount of water in the mash, I have kind of a small syringe so it has to be pretty liquidy to get it down her. It’s still probably not enough, but it’s something.
