My seven Ancona girls are 14 months old. Two molted in June and the rest have yet up shed their worn wing feathers. Is this normal? This is April in front, who is soft and snowy with new plumage. -

They are 13 months. I'm not sure when! You can wait til you see the first egg, or start early. I think it can't hurt. I'll look up when mine first started laying. Yours are cute! Post another pic! -

She was diagnosed with an infection of unknown cause snd given antibiotics and pain meds. The hard thing is she has to be separated from her sisters fir 30 days! I don't understand why her antibiotic could be so harmful to the others. -

I'll take to the vet. I'd like to wait for the avian specialist tomorrow, but I'm afraid to wait and so I guess I'd better get her in to the after hours clinic tonight. She's a voracious forager, gets her bill into everything, so she probably got into something sharp or something. -

Thank you. I don't have any drakes, and the other girls are all not bothering her. She's just floating around, or standing and taking sips of water. She's my most active and loudest duck, but she's like a Buddha right now. Must be in pain. -

One of my Ancona girls did not rush out to forage with the flock today! She just stood there blinking her right eye, and there is some swelling from the base of the bill across her cheek. Should I get her to the vet asap? Or what can I do at home? -

My Ancona girls are LOVING the oyster shell and have just started laying a lot. Some of the eggs have chunky calcium deposits on them and there's still the occasional thin shells. -
