How Long Before it is Safe to Eat Eggs again after treating w/ Tylan?

Whoa - so the FDA says don't use this at all in layers? Wow. I think maybe we need to make note of that - Tylan is recommended here a lot [that's why I bought it]. Now I'm wondering if I've ruined all my layers? I am having bad chicken luck these days, that's for sure! Kelly

How Long Before it is Safe to Eat Eggs again after treating w/ Tylan?

LOL - well, my search came up with everything from "no need to wait" to "discard for 7-10 days" to "discard for 2 weeks". Guess I'll discard for 2 weeks to be 100% safe! Kelly

How Long Before it is Safe to Eat Eggs again after treating w/ Tylan?

We just treated our whole flock with Tylan to cure an eye infection they were passing around [it worked great BTW!]. They finished the course yesterday. For how long should I discard the eggs before they are safe to eat again after treatment? Thanks! Kelly

Oddly enough, here is a YouTube video of dyed easter chicks. Weird. I've never seen such a thing either! Kelly

Can I give VetRX AND Tylan at the same time?

[I haven't started the treatments yet BTW - still waiting on a consensus opinion. I'm going to start just Rainbow tomorrow]. Kelly

Can I give VetRX AND Tylan at the same time?

Thanks everyone. I am now really confused. I feel so dumb... I don't have any birds with any nasal symptoms at all - the only one that has anything wrong now is Rainbow, with the swollen eye. The other pullet that kept her one eye closed for a few days is fine now. So, it sounds...

Can I give VetRX AND Tylan at the same time?

I am treating my flock "just in case" [see this thread for more details if you want them: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=200081 ]. I have VetRX and Tylan powder [water soluable] to give them now since the mail came . Can I give both at once or no? Thanks for any...

    Ethel why are you naked??

I feel for you! My sister has a black australorp just like this - she's been bald in patches since November. Otherwise she is healthy, happy and lays almost every single day [she lays 21 days straight, takes one day off and lays another 21 days!]. Her bald spots have moved over the months...

Eye Problems - Treat the Whole flock? [pics]

Well, Rainbow's eye is still swollen shut. Some of the swelling has gone down - I am not sure her eye is still there though the more I look at it. None of the others have gotten sick. That one little pullet was keeping one of her eyes closed sometimes, but yesterday and today she's been...

Eye Problems - Treat the Whole flock? [pics]

...and that broody I took in last week is still in quarantine with the chicks I gave her, so I know it isn't her spreading things. Anyway, I appreciate all the help! I *deeply* appreciate the advice and information, both on this thread and PMs! I'll try to update as I figure things out! Kelly

Eye Problems - Treat the Whole flock? [pics]

[Oh, and I'm not usually such a basket case, but imagining having to put down all of my children's beloved pets was just a bit much for this soft hearted mama. ] Kelly

Eye Problems - Treat the Whole flock? [pics]

THANKS! No, it isn't green or crusty, it must be the coloring in the pic. It just looks swollen [we thought at first it was weasel trauma, but there isn't any tearing or bite marks, just swelling]. A friend of mine reminded me that I've been having a mold problem in their coop because...

Eye Problems - Treat the Whole flock? [pics]

...friends]. NO, actually I'm crying AND wanting to throw up. Our birds are our pets - my children each have birds that they have hatched from *eggs* and hand raised [I've hatched almost all our birds myself ]. If we have to cull the whole flock I don't know if we could survive the...

Eye Problems - Treat the Whole flock? [pics]

It has no odor at all. I've read the site extensively, I can't find anything that describes an illness just with the eye thing - usually there are other symptoms [smell, nasal discharge, breathing problems, diarrhea, etc]. that's why this has me baffled. Kelly

Eye Problems - Treat the Whole flock? [pics]

...7 days or so.... Another suggestion was an antibiotic that I could put in their water to treat the whole flock, but it would take longer to work. *Should* I treat the whole flock? Or just the two hens who seem affected? Is there anything detrimental to treating them all? And is it weird...

CLOSED Easter Eggers - GA - $20 includes postage

Hey Guys - these eggs are no longer for sale. I posted this thread a week ago and when I got no response, I sold the eggs elsewhere [didn't want them to go bad ]. I've since decided to get out of breeding altogether. Sorry! I hope you do find some nice ones elsewhere, because EEs rock...

My test shipments!!! Last one's in the mail today...(Cross ur fingers)

I wish you luck. I can't seem to sell eggs to save my life! I have a beautiful flock of "pure" Easter Eggers [most of them are Ameraucanas] and I also have a very high quality flock of pure Cuckoo Marans, and I can't sell eggs from either flock! [I was looking to make $6-8 per dozen, $6...

CLOSED Easter Eggers - GA - $20 includes postage

...had a full beard and muff just like the parents. They are extremely pretty chickens. My birds are all unrelated and very healthy. These are *very* beautiful EEs - not the "run of the mill" muddy colored ones many hatcheries have for sale. Whenever people visit my property, they try to...
