Don't love starlings, but do love watching their murmurations.

    I enjoyed the reread.

The rot-resistent cedar boards rotted, so I need to do something.

I do this, a lot. It's not lazy, it's time efficient.

I've had chickadees tap on the window to get my attention when the feeder is empty.

Countdown to the first egg *Just For Fun*

Watch for big girl combs. Only one of my three OEGBs has one, though the other two are developing theirs.

Thank you! She's one of two remaining hens from my original chick purchase, back in February 2023. Hannah is the other, who went broody once as a pullet, never since, and who lays smaller eggs.

I wound up removing the boards as I couldn't get the blocks close enough with the wood in the way.

Two years, but I believe that a combination of our wet climate (48" rainfall annually) and ants were partly responsible. I'm disappointed, and planning on contacting the company. I like Wisp, too. She and Alice showed up 2-3 years ago, after my last feral died. "Wheresthefood?"

What are your frugal and sustainable tips and tricks?

Cranberries are $3.50 a bag, wow. In my freezer I still have a bag from last year. I also have a turkey, and bulk sausage for the stuffing. Last November my DH was ailing and so we skipped the holiday meals.

I went to the farmers' market this morning, but the half price pumpkins were already sold out. Tax: Got an egg from Dinah, one of the OEGB pullets! Bantam Sussex egg on left for comparison.

AND I got a pullet egg today, probably from Dinah! She's one of the OEGB chicks that I bought in late June. Bantam Sussex egg on left for comparison.

Started the change over from wood to block raised beds this afternoon. I need more blocks! I wound up removing the rotting wood as I couldn't get the blocks snug enough with the slats still in place.

Afternoon project... Ran out of energy, and almost out of blocks, so I stopped. Supervisor Wisp!

Thank you! It was 45° at 6am, I didn't think we'd get a frost. Ran errands this morning, but all the 1/2 price pumpkins were gone. Then I walked a dog at the shelter, heeler mix, right size, hmm. If she's there at Thanksgiving I might take her home on trial.
