Every body post your feed tricks PLEASE

This is a vertical nipple bottle. Chicks use these Day 2 until about three weeks old, then transition to the horizontal ones. In a pinch with adult chickens, we've hung one of these and they either remember or learn very quick and use these too. This is a DIY horizontal nipple waterer made...

22 Week Old Hen - Right foot turned inwards

I'm assuming she'll get better, so when you put her back with the rest, can you put in a lower perch for her? That way she doesn't reinjure it jumping so far. I'm assuming your perches are a few feet high.

22 Week Old Hen - Right foot turned inwards

She's a cutie! What you feed yours is exactly what we feed ours so it's doubtful it's a vitamin deficiency, although we never know. I would soak her foot for about 10 minutes in some warm water. You can put Epsom salts in it if you have any. After drying her off, see if you can tell...

    Scaly leg mites??

We deal with a lot of SLM due to having free-ranging silkies (feathered feet are more prone to them). Those look good by comparison, but I'd do what @Eggcessive said too if I thought those were SLM.

MY ROOSTER DIED! Need to know why, NEED ADVICE

Sorry for your loss. :hugs He perhaps did have an encounter with something that could have given him internal or head injuries. But a purple comb can mean circulatory issues, possibly due to a heart condition or problem. Sometimes chickens just die, and we never know why. You could do a...

How to feed chicken after crop surgery?

I would try mixing that into a very small amount of scrambled eggs. This is reply from a member about how to perform the crop surgery, but she includes the post-op treatment at the bottom. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/emergency-crop-surgery-question.1607576/post-27944019 The below...

Will I Ever Be Done With The Urge To Buy More Chicken stuff!

I just reread this. Did you mean is a heat a must? Absolutely! You'll need either to make a momma heating pad like @N F C gave the link above, a heat lamp like we use, or a heat plate that they sell at farm stores. Here's her post again as she explained it...

Will I Ever Be Done With The Urge To Buy More Chicken stuff!

I hatch all my own chicks. Sometime I buy really expensive hatching eggs, but most of the time it's just from my silkies.

Will I Ever Be Done With The Urge To Buy More Chicken stuff!

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow Those momma heating pads are so nice. I was going to make a few, and for whatever reason, we went with 100-watt black ceramic lizard bulbs for brooders, and Cozy Coop brand radiant heaters for the growout pens. I must've lost that decision back then. 😁 It...

ISO Pullets, Possibly eggs. Buff Oringtons, Light Sussex, Silkie, Cochin's Araucana's.

Yup, I've gotten tons of eggs, and four adults from Bobbi. Getting pullets out of her is nearly impossible unless you agree to take a rooster for every pullet. I have a beautiful cuckoo lemon rooster out of one of my deals with her. Lots of other beauties too. We're going to try a different...
