Hi guys, I have a male welsh harlequin and I was just checking to see if anyone in the Layton/Bountiful/SLC/Ogden area was interested in providing him a new home? He is very lovely and has bonded to me. The problem is that, he lost his lady after something came and ate her and four of our...
That doesn't sound mean at all, it is actually very reasonable. I would need to talk to my in laws because although they don't take care of him, he is technically theirs and I couldn't make that decision on my own. Thank you all for your replies and I will do my best to find a solution so he...
I am hoping that we can get another duck, it's what we really want for him but only if my in laws are okay with it. We don't *let* him in, he just sort of runs in following the dogs. We usually shue him back outside. I don't want the dogs to feel like they don't have their own space.
We do have a back door but we live in the basement of my in-laws. So we only use our door, unless we are upstairs for any reason. We may be able to get another duck next year but it isn't my house and my mother in law really doesn't want anymore poultry. I'm lucky to still have Fred our drake...
So we have three dogs and one duck (I know we shouldn't only have one but, his mate was killed along with four of our chickens all in a span of two nights). Well now we have him on our front porch so he isn't lonely and he hangs with us all day. Well, my poor dogs can't eat, drink their water...
Thank you, NeedlessJunk. I thought the brown was a KC as well because that's what it looked like when I googled it. I guess I'll wait and see when they've grown a little.
Yeah, I figured it isn't an indicator but just struck me as odd. Guess I better get use to oddness. Lol. I love their noises and am really exciting for the vocalization. Gives me a sense of their personality.
Thank you both for the replies. We kept her inside for a little while after I posted this and she was fine. Started to eat and drink but still continued with some odd noises, I believe she missed her lady friends. So we put her out and she is a-ok! I was scared for a little while, worried that...
This is her first time, I believe. I'll scramble some eggs for her and see how she does. She is just picking at her food now and her vent is still contracting. She keeps squatting too, like she may lay another. Will she? She isn't breathing heavy anymore and doesn't seem so distressed but she is...
So this morning I went out to the coop, to refresh the chickens water and clean everything out. Well, I found two tiny eggs(I believe these are the first eggs laid) and we weren't sure who it was that laid them. Fast forward to when I let all my girls(6 of them) out to free range and my bantam...
Thank you Shellz. She seems to be okay now. Just a little trouble keeping up with her having her gorgeous houdan head dress and all. I do hope she'll come to me now, since the other girls are so trusting of me.
No, we have six now. It's just that the other hens are about 2 months older. She seems to be ok though. The older ones are being very kind to her, which is unlike them. I'm grateful for that and hoping she bonds with them over time.
We had to take a rooster to IFA today because we couldn't keep him. Well, he was raised with a chicken that turned out to be a hen and now she crying and I feel awful. They both cried for each other. Will she get over it or should she have went with him? I hated to separate them but he had to...
Aloe Vera and honey will work well. Do not use Vaseline, I'm not sure why but I was told no petroleum on baby chicks. Maybe research that. Honey has disinfecting properties, so id use that and the aloe Vera for now and get witch hazel when you can. Don't freak out, it'll be alright. We all went...
Yeah, give it a try, won't hurt anything. I used it until I could get to the store and pick up some witch hazel. It works so much better and keeps it disinfected too! Good luck and before long it'll be gone and you won't have to stress about it.
