First, I am posting this for a friend who just got chicks in April or May of this year. (2014)
I spoke with her last night and she told me that 5 out of her 6 assorted Tractor Supply chicks have died within the last 7 days, with the last death being Saturday. The one remaining bird is active...
I thought the same thing. When I had seen that fox outside the pasture it looked fine, except for a limp. I didn's see a missing foot, just a limp. His tail looked bushy. We had a good rain Thursday morning, early, so I wondered if that changed his hair appearance. He did look sickly. We...
Just for info, Thursday morning I got up while still dark and went out to the pasture. I sat back a good 75 yards or so from the actual fenced in area where the birds and goats live. All looked well. Motion sensor light was on, Christmas tree lights were on and I could see birds roosting all...
Timely post this one...
Saturday evening we were grazing our goats outside the goat / chicken pasture. The goats went deeper into a wooded area and sure enough I saw a fox run off. I was like "Well isn't that great!" Sunday morning, one dead RR in the middle of our 1/2 acre fenced pasture...
I do believe it to be the eastern king. The photo does not do it justice. It is black with faint white bands, or better to say white blotches on the body. I have ruled out the eastern black racer due to the huge body this guy had. Also, the eastern indigo snake was a suspicion but I doubt I...
This morning while feeding my son found a snake in the barn where we keep our supplies. I went to inspect and saw an Eastern King Snake and chased him around until he slipped out of the barn. My son is 9 so the rest of the morning was spent explaining how many snakes benefit us in ways we...
Hey Y'all....
Coming in at the end of a poop discussion...
How long should I let the chicken poo sit before I start using it for my veggies? I "assume" until it is dry, or is there a time frame? I also "assume" the same for the rabbit poo....interestingly, I have both, so I have a buffet of poo!
Hey guys......
To test all of your knowledge I am asking an odd question.
I do raised garden boxes and one is with strawberries. Do any of you have strawberries in raised boxes? If so, how many plants per box....and is spring the only time to thin them out?
Ok ok ok ok.......to keep in...

Thanks for the reply! I kinda thought the same since it looked like ink dots on the brown. And, I have been stealing the mother-in-laws turnips the past two weeks and figured the turnips were given them some color. Her turnips...my yard....hehehehe
Grrrr......guess it doesn't pay to come on here and leave a wise crack about rice and a cell phone...cuz then the need to really come here to ask a question comes about and the person who knows the answer is either the tinkle covered cell phone lady or the soak the pee phone in rice lady...

I am here to pass the blame onto this site. It is all of your faults combined for what has happened and I tell you I am not very happy...
I should have eight babies in by Nov 16 so I figured I would split the shipping costs between everyone!!! I will post where you can mail the nickel.

Hi, this post is for new member Chicks & Guineas....since i still have yet to learn how to use the quote feature.
I assume you got your chicks from the Savannah Hwy TSC since that is close to you. I ordered four Araucana's from there last spring and I actually "think" they are Americauna's...
