I would think your humidity is a little high for the first 18 days of incubation.
40% would be better.
I would have the plugs out now and maybe back in for lock down.
I purchased some mixed Jap eggs.
The colours the breeder has are white, black mottled, birchen.
Any one have any idea what colour this chick might turn into?
Eggtopsy complete.
1 looks to have died early, must have missed it when I candled.
1 must have been DIS at or just before lockdown, no internal pip.
1 had piped internally, positioned correctly but did not pip externally.
Soo cute brijay2.
Thanks Shayna, we have had great luck with our hatches this year.
So sorry for you wrestling_mom, hopefully with the new bator your luck will change.
I thought I would add to your post.
So far I have 14 hatch, 3 partially zipped and I can not see any pips from the remaining 5.
Here is hoping.
Good luck to everyone.
I have hatched a mixed lot of chicks and was wondering how old do they have to be before they can spend a few hours outside?
They have a secure large cage they can go into. Our temps are around 70 during the day.
What do other forum members do?
Whatever will you do with all those roosters?
These will be sold as day olds I hope, otherwise I might be in a bit of strife.
Last season I had no trouble re homing any roosters, so heres hoping.
I just love the look on the kids faces when they watch them hatch and could watch chickens all day.
My hubby thinks I have gone nuts and is dubbing me the crazy chicken lady.
I have just put into the bator 48 mixed eggs.
Eckkk, this is the most I have ever tried hatched.
The farm where I got these eggs gave them to me for free, as the last lot had average fertility, (we have had funny...
As of this evening I have 3/3 speckled Sussex hatch.
2/2 Golden Seabright Hatch.
3/3 Pekin (cochin) hatch
No wellies yet but 3 have external pips so looking good.
Sooooooooooo happy right now.:celebrate
Well I thought I would join your thread.
I am in lockdown as of this morning.
I can not wait till I see some activity.
This is my second set, so have learned a lot and hope I have a good hatch.
It is a mixed lot, 3 speckled sussex, 5 wellsummer, 3 Cochin bantam, 2 Golden Sebright bantam.
I purchased and picked up 2 dozen mixed eggs.
Candles on arrival, 1 cracked.
Candled on day 7, 9 clear, the rest developing well.
Could this high level of clear eggs be an incubation issue or do I need to go back to the seller and complain?
Temps and humidity have remained steady.
Yay me too. I will put mine in on saturday.
6 Speckled sussex, 6 welsummer, 6 Golden Seabright bantams and 6 Cochin bantams.
This will be my 2nd go and hopefully have worked out the kinks to get a better hatch than last time.
